Meet Stacie Steward of Trendsetters Hair Salon in Woodstock

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacie Steward.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Stacie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Coming from Baltimore, Maryland, I always knew that I had the potential to be anything I wanted to be. My mother always made sure I pushed passed what was expected of me. At eighteen years old, I opened up my first salon in Randallstown, MD. At the same time, I was hired as one of Empire Beauty Schools youngest clinic instructor.

Speeding ahead to 2007, where Trendsetters Hair Salon was born. In a small area of Cherokee County. The area has very few African American business owners. But I trusted Gods plan an I opened my salon, with just a handful of customers.

Now, in 2019, I humbly serve over 500 steady clients. The most unique thing about my salon is the Ministry I operate. A few years ago, I realized the number of people who don’t have food. Therefore, I started feeding families with my own money, leaving boxes of food at random apartment complex’s.

I believe as a business in the community we should give back, no matter how big or small.
God has blessed me with a successful organization and I just believe that we should help those in need.
Sometimes, it’s the people who scrape together just enough money to get their hair done are those with the greatest need.

I just give God all the glory for helping me to beyond the chair. I love my salon and clients and I appreciate the talent God has touched me with. I never dreamed that my organization would become a six-figure brand, it’s all about staying true, staying pure and giving back what God has given me. I humbly accept the position as a trendsetter. The lady behind the chair feeding families and making them look beautiful at the same time!

Has it been a smooth road?
The biggest obstacle I have faced is knowing how to run my organization properly. I have had many health challenges but stay focused on my brand and my goal. I realized that education is a must. You can have all the talent in the world but without education to build that gap, you will struggle. I need to obtain my degrees to truly merge the gap of what I didn’t know.

What do you do? What do you specialize in?
I believe in doing affordable trendy hair with a classic twist.
I believe in educating my clients, so they understand their hair properly. Trendsetters focus on healthy bleachless hair color, precise hair cuts, and flawless extensions. In 2016, I started developing a hair brand called Love Luxury Virgin Hair Extensions. I wanted to provide a one-stop shop environment. I wanted clients who ware extensions, to have top quality but yet affordable hair options. Trendsetters specials in micro links, sewins, frontals, closures and glue ins. At Trendsetters, we do it all! We want our clients to have self-love and it starts with being happy with your hair.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Hair itself is always evolving and clients are more educated than ever. Therefore, I believe the trend in 5-10 years will be technology driven. Clients today are busy and they don’t want to spend hours on the salon. So, it’s all about quick, but yet efficient trendy hair.
