Meet Stacy Hall of Sweet Sadie’s Meatz & Treatz in Columbus

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacy Hall.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Stacy. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started in my mother’s kitchen at the age of 11, believe it or not. She taught me to cook and bake at an early age. After school, I didn’t go play like other kids. I went straight to the Girls Inc. where I learned how to cook, sew, and make ceramics. My mom was a baker and I was blessed with the same gift. Every holiday I would be in the kitchen with my mom stirring, measuring, sifting, etc. I didn’t understand it then why I really had no childhood but it’s so evident now. I’m grateful for all the trouble I missed out on because my mom had me at home in the kitchen lol. When my mom passed, I felt the need to keep her legacy going on. My mother’s name is Sadie. So my husband and I named the business after her. (Sweet Sadie’s). So baking has become my therapy.

There is so much that actually goes on inside of a Baker’s kitchen. My atmosphere is full of Worship, Praise, Laughter and Love. It hasn’t been an easy journey, but worth every up and down, trial and tribulation, every heartache and pain, every tear and every smile. I’ve been through. I’ve had a lot of people and family bad mouth me and say I wouldn’t make it or couldn’t do it. I’ve had to make some hard sacrifices. Because I had four girls and a working husband, I always sacrificed the jobs that I had to stay home and raise my family. My niece came to me one day and asked had I ever thought about going to college. I came up with every reason and excuse on why I couldn’t go. But I had six reasons that told me I could do it. My husband, my four girls and my niece. Finally, the seventh person jumped on board, myself. I’ve always wanted to own my own business, so I started at Miller-Motte College in 2013 at the age of 38.

I graduated in 2015 Suma Cum Laude with an Associate Degree in EHR (Electronic Health Records). I didn’t stop there. I went back a second time. This time to get a degree in Business Management. I graduated in 2017. While attending school, I was baking cakes, cookies and cupcakes for my classmates and teachers. I even catered a few events. Here I am at the age of 45, doing what I’m so passionate about baking. See, back then, I was baking just to be baking because it’s what I love to do. Now, I bake with a purpose. See, there’s a purpose for everything that we do. When you pray and ask God what that purpose is, it makes all the difference. When you bake with a purpose, there’s motivation, drive and you’re asking God what’s your assignment. My business isn’t where I want it to be just yet, but God is making provision. And while I’m waiting, He’s blessing me. He’s the CEO. I’m just the willing vessel He chose to push the vision of Sweet Sadie’s Meatz & Treatz.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. With any business, it takes funding and planning. The funds haven’t always been there. Some days I could produce a product and some days it was hit and miss. Having to decide which events you would be able to participate in because of funding.

And baking out of your home meant your bills are going to increase. It has been times when I just couldn’t bake, either because it was causing problems in the home, no support or support system or I began to lack confidence in myself. I kept asking myself it was worth all of the letdown, tears, sabotage etc, especially when there were others out there doing the same thing I was doing. Me watching their dreams become a reality and mine at a standstill. My biggest struggle was confidence and anxiety. Lack of confidence in myself and anxiety, especially when it came to talking to people. I would see rejection and disapproval even if it wasn’t there. I had to learn that people are going to spend their money on whatever they want whether it’s with me or someone else.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Sweet Sadie’s Meatz & Treatz – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Sweet Sadie’s is named after my mother. The business represents who she was a person: a person who fed others, loving, caring and sweet. We bake, fry, grill, broil, air fry etc. We specialize in all kinds of cakes, pies, cookies, cupcakes, seafood broils, ribs etc. But known for the delicious and moist Red Velvet Cake, Red Velvet Poundcake and cupcakes. Red Velvet is my signature. I’m most proud of the way the company is making a name for itself and the awesome support system it has. I have the BEST SPIRITUAL PARENTS in the world. Apostle Pamela Burke and Pastor Dwayne Burke, you’ll never know how much your prayers, your guidance, your love and your support mean to me.

I’m thankful to God for you. Gifts of God Ministry (GOG) I love you and blessed to have you as my family. What sets me apart from others is that I’m not trying to be like everyone else. Sweet Sadie’s Meatz & Treatz has it’s on a unique identity and my customers are treated as my family. I love on them, encourage and make everything with the love that I have for Christ. See my payment from my customers is when I see them take that first bite into my Red Velvet Cake or when you take a bite into the ribs and you start dancing in your seat when your food is oh so good. I just love to see people enjoy great food. That does my heart good.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My prayer for the future is that God places Sweet Sadie’s Meatz & Treatz in a building. I’m looking forward to God doing great things in this business. I see a food truck in the making. I’m also planning a Taste of Sweet Sadie’s Meatz & Treatz with samples of my Sweets and Meatz.

There will be delicious giveaways also. Great things and big doors are about to open up for Sweet Sadie’s and I’m so excited and grateful.
