Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Ingram.
Stephanie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have Crohn’s Disease and spent much of my time home alone. I decided to learn Feline Genetics and then raise kittens for loving families that are interested in this awesome cat breed. I started 16 yrs. ago with a small cattery that has grown into a wonderful place today. I breed Ragdoll cats that have a dog like personality and they can grow quite large, they are extremely loving and devoted to their owners. I started small from another mentor in genetics and today my interest lies in bringing new colors into the breed and expanding the genetic diversity while not losing the essence of the breed. Lots of hard work 🙂
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Working with animals is never 100% guaranteed and most of the time we have smooth sailing but there are times when you lose a kitten or a new born and as I am there during every delivery it can get quite sad and upsetting. I struggle within myself to try and make EVERY client happy with the kitten or adult cat they have adopted.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Pinkerton Ragdolls – what should we know?
My business is a hobby business run out of our home. I specialize in producing top quality Ragdoll kittens for approved families. I have put kittens in homes with very high-profile clients and just your family next door clients. It is my mission to help anyone get a Ragdoll that wants one. I am known for extremely well socialized kittens that are never caged but are raised lovingly in our home.
I am most proud of the new colors of Ragdolls that I have introduced to the Southeast. I am proud that people come as clients and leave as friends and that my Ragdolls are raised so lovingly.
I think what sets me apart from other breeders is that I never cage my cats so they are extremely loving. I like being a leader in producing new colors of coats on the cats and that I am known throughout the country for my well socialized babies.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
The credit goes to my husband Jeff for supporting my dreams and of course for helping in the care and cleaning of our cattery and taking the time to talk with clients, etc..
Also my mentors have been a veterinarian Maxine Stiles (Doll Nouveau Ragdolls) and Cindy Tourangeau (O Canada Ragdolls) in their invaluable mentorship in helping teach me Feline Genetics and for helping create a better standard of Ragdoll for the new colors being introduced as well as the Traditional Ragdolls.
