Stephanie, Smith College class of 1994, is the owner of Innovative Marketing & Design, a boutique marketing services firm founded in 2007. Her major emphasis and field of expertise is strategic top line marketing campaign design with an emphasis in activity and event based marketing, “in plain English” turning leads into sales! Her firm was founded to assist companies in reaching their customers, growing their business, and increasing their sales through a series of personal, interactive, and creative grass roots marketing applications.
In 2016 after 9 years in business, Stephanie defined her company’s vision as an award winning design, promotional product and printing company servicing 7 countries and all 50 states!

When asked what her major accomplishments have been over the last several years her reply was quick, “becoming a mother to Jacob in 2006, Rebecca in 2007, and Sam in 2009 all while building a business that demands my time but rewards the soul making it possible for me to be a mother!”
Prior to her current role, Stephanie held major national positions as the Director of Marketing for Lagasse Sweet, a billion dollar division of United Stationers Supply Company (now Essendent) from 2005 to 2008, where she was responsible for all activity based marketing for the domestic United States market and as the Director of Marketing for Sweet Paper Sales Corp. a national supplier of “away from home” products from 1994 to 2004.

WHO ARE WE AND HOW DID WE GET HERE:
In 2007, Stephanie Kampel Wilson started Innovative Marketing & Design after realizing that there were many event marketers that needed more support than the current market was offering! She was a working professional with little time to spend running from store to store, provider to provider, in search of the perfect marketing hard goods, promotional products and printing for her campaigns and she wanted to SPEAK to a human not internet trotting wasting hours trying to see if an item would meet her marketing needs!
She also needed products:
• On Time And At Her Door Before Events
• Correctly Imprinted With The Best Quality
• In Budget And Billed Correctly
• Solutions With CREATIVITY That Outpaced The Mundane
Even more importantly, there had to be more helpful sales representatives who were willing to meet with her that were experts in their field, not just me too order takers.
As her frustration grew and corporate America was getting beyond demanding of her time and more importantly acknowledging there really was a glass ceiling, Stephanie set out to set up shop, build a business, and be MOM! Her resolve to not waste a moment led her forward…
So, in 2007, Stephanie purchased office space, took out a million dollar loan, hired an entire staff of 4 and got started! With zero business and nothing but contacts, she built each relationship from simply asking for work! As things started to take off, and in 2009 with the economy crashing, a redefining moment came!
Innovative Marketing & Design was lucky to have the financial backing of private investment making it possible to sustain and grown during the darkest of the economic times.
Innovative Marketing & Design created additional product offerings only available to its current clients and customers which enabled the partnership to create marketing solutions in the demanding depths of the global meltdown but hold firm to the most creative solutions for clients. The company dived into offering distribution solutions for touch campaigns, kitting, warehousing, global sourcing and global delivery, custom molding, packaging solutions, and many more specialty items that met the now strict guidelines of marketing.
As the company has grown, more services and items have been added to keep up with the demand of their most creative clients! With proprietary internal organization and process flow, Innovative Marketing has been in double digit grown for the last three years and is poised to join the small majority of women owned business to cross the million dollar threshold.
In 2015, Innovative Marketing & Design was proud to have paid back all startup loans and private investment initiatives making is possible to create even more new products and services to share with our clients. As Stephanie has mentioned several times, “the power of debt free makes the mind wander to new possibilities and products.”

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
A small business ownership is never a smooth road. However, if one mires down in the negative, the positive is never gained. We pride our team training on always staying positive, and our mantra, “nothing is impossible if you compromise.”
