Today we’d like to introduce you to Steve Lewis.
The Lightnin name dates back to 1975, when the Lewis family established Lightnin Truck Rentals. The family sold that business — which rented moving trucks, trailers, and other equipment in 1998, Five years later Lightnin RV was born and second-generation owner Steve Lewis reinvented himself and the company and started renting RV’s in the spring of 2003. We run all current year model RV’s that are loaded with accessories. We do not rent stripped down units.
We run a fleet of approximately 45 RVs. We rent class C Motorhomes, Class A motorhomes, as well as travel trailers and pop up campers. Lightnin RV also has temporary housing we offer to insurance companies for people whose home is damaged and they still want to reside on their own property. Lightnin RV provides RVs for family vacations, tailgates, concert venues and much more. Our slogan is ” Your journey starts here!”
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Being in the rental business is hard work and it takes capital to be able to buy new RVs every season. One challenge is trying to find ways to rent in the winter. We have four months that we do not do very much business.

We only rent RVs full time and we own all of our RVs. Some rental companies rent RVs but do not own them and the customer is usually going to get an older RV. We generally carry 5 to 12 of each type and size so the customer knows what they are getting
What were you like growing up?
Our family grew up camping in a homemade pop up camper and later bought a travel trailer. We camped and fished almost every weekend in the summer.
