Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Ingram Jr..
Michael, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I originally began to make comedic videos on the social app Vine. My friends Chaz Williams & MightyDuck & I worked at a Korean-owned grocery store named Super H-Mart. Our shenanigans soon began to build up a fan base on vine and then from there it was history. I’ve moved on to other platforms such as Instagram and Facebook but vine definitely has given me the drive and confidence to share my personality with the world.
Has it been a smooth road?
I don’t think any road to success is ever smooth. I’m blessed beyond measure for all the opportunities but it is NOT easy. It’s sometimes difficult sometimes to see the bigger picture out of all of the hard work we (as content creators) put in. We put in hours and sometimes days worth of work into our videos, and sometimes you see little to no return.. so I think honestly it’s a struggle to stay consistent and not “fall off”
Is there some part of you work that is particularly difficult?
I personally believe the hardest part of being a content creator is keeping the ideas creative and fresh.. we have to truly adapt and keep up with social trends/issues/ and things of the sort in order to connect with our crowd. Consistency is key, but people get tired of seeing the same “type of comedy”, so just trying to keep different ideas rolling is key to success.
How do you define success?
Success to me is being able to make a clear career for myself, one that allows me to support myself and family, but most importantly one that makes me HAPPY. I have put A LOT of work into this, and I intend to put A LOT more, but I think I’ll reach “success” the moment all of this work pays off, and I can look back and say “I did it”. Grind til the wheels fall off.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plans for the future is to Finish getting my bachelor’s degree. Also branch out into a wider variety as far as my social media life goes. I’m looking into more acting roles and opportunities on a larger scale. I’m being patient with the process, but trying to expand my horizons as well.
