Meet Anthony Strayhorn of StrayFit in Buckhead/Sandy Springs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Strayhorn.

Thanks for sharing your story with us, Anthony. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started my business as a personal trainer in March of 2012 after being in the corporate world for seven years. I was a Chemical Engineer designing power plant systems. In the beginning, I started “StrayFit” as a personal training experience that focused on exercise and nutritional coaching. In May of 2012, I connected with a community called “The YourDay Balance Game” through a friend that was part of the community. This community was lead by a very inspiring and influential individual by the name of Day Adeogba. It was during this time period that my sense of wellness and health became more expanded and evolved into a more balanced approach. I later included my holistic lifestyle practices and mindfulness ideas into my practice of training and coaching. Today my training and coaching focus on movement, lifestyle, and mindfulness in ways that are practical, balanced, and sustainable for my clients.

I’m a Vegan Athlete as well. I’ve been Vegan for 17 years

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s been a mix of both. For the most part, it’s been a great progression forward where I’ve learned a lot from multiple circumstances like client relationships, best practices in training, financial ebbs and flows, and just having a bigger “Y” for my business.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with StrayFit – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My business is called “StrayFit.” It’s a playoff my last name “Strayhorn” (smile). More than just a playoff my name, my business is about “straying from the norm” in the approach to a health and fitness lifestyle. It’s about seeing balance (not perfection) as the bigger purpose or game to shoot for. My business is holistic in that it’s built on movement, lifestyle, and mindfulness. In my experience, these areas really help to create a well-rounded experience for clients and myself.

I coach and train people around areas of “B.A.L.A.N.C.E.” – Breath, Aqua(water), Lengthen, Anaerobic, Nutrition, Cleansing, and Energize. This concept is so powerful in creating a sustainable and very valuable approach to a person’s health, fitness, and overall wellness. I advocate for people to do it all. Engage in activities that inspire you and give you a sense of that childlike energy and excitement that’s inside all of us. My style of coaching and training allows people to come adaptable in an array of activities like running, swimming, yoga, hiking, rock climbing, cycling, dancing, sports of all types, and any other type lifestyle activities.

What I’m most proud of about my company is the way in which I’ve been able to give and serve others on their journey to become healthier versions of themselves in a way that’s inspiring for them.

What sets me apart from others is that my holistic approach to fitness, lifestyle, and mindfulness in that most trainers and coaches don’t mindfully bring all of these elements into their experience. There are are some out there but we’re a minority group (smile).

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I’m currently in the process of creating a digital online course for people who are looking or interested in making a transition into a vegan lifestyle. Specifically in the areas of athletics and fitness. Being vegan for 17 years now, I have wealth of knowledge and experience with this lifestyle and I’m ready to share this with the world.

Increasing my client rooster for virtual B.A.L.A.N.CE. Lifestyle Coaching is an area I’m focusing on and playing for.

I’m also creating opportunities to partner and collaborate with other holistic wellness brands and those advocates of a plant-based lifestyle. Speaking engagements, conferences, and retreats are also on the horizon.
