Today we’d like to introduce you to Suebrina Cofer.
Suebrina, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I volunteered as a Girl Scout leader for twelve years. Each year, my troop planned an adventure to various locations. In 2011, the troop planned a trip to visit the Mall of America in MN. During this 4-day excursion, we explored various sections of the city as well as the entire mall from top to bottom. I notice a very unique feature in the mall, which was a children’s salon. It was very cute and offered activities as well as services which ranged from haircuts to make-overs. I thought to myself, this is the business for me.
Fast forward, 2013 – the girls in my troop have all graduated from high school and are off to college and as an empty-nester, I have a lot of time on my hands. My niece turns 5 and her mom hires “My Fairy Godmother” to host her party. As I am assisting with the party, I mention to my family that I once thought about a little girl’s spa as a business venture. Needless to say, the encouragement and support was overwhelming.
On February 15, 2014, we hosted our very first party, which consisted of 15 girls ages 6 – 8. The little ladies dressed in spa robes and decorated their own headbands, then proceeded to being pampered with mini manicures, mini pedicures, and mini makeovers. The afternoon concluded with pizza, fruit, punch and of course cake.
In September 2016, we moved into our brand new location and celebrated with a weekend open house (a post birthday celebration for me). Since opening, we host 2 -3 parties/spa days/events per week. Our primary focus is to pamper and instill positive self-esteem in little girls and pre-teens, in addition, we offer workshops, kid’s night out and community events which are open to boy and girls.
Has it been a smooth road?
There have been some challenges – staffing, marketing, scheduling, repairs, maintenance, the list goes on.
Marketing with a limited budget was an eye-opener. Initially, we tried partnering with companies which offered customer discounted rates so that we could get our business name recognized, but realize we did not earn enough to use those type services at the time, so we transitioned to business listings with Google, Bing, Yellow Pages, and Punchbowl.
We also used grassroots marketing such as handing out cards at local events, working with local businesses to leave business information for their customers. We also had to adjust to business expenses and overhead. This is how our Kids Night Out and Fun Break Camps were born. By offering these services, we were able to generate revenue during slow periods when we did not have parties scheduled.
Within our first year of business, we walked in on ants, coming in from outside, accompanied by a water heater leaking from the ceiling – we were 3 hours away from a scheduled party. Somehow we got rid of the ants and was able to pull off the party with no one knowing of the water heater incident. We had to close for a few weeks so that our property manager could make repairs, but we survived and learned to be resilient along the way.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with J. Nicole Spa for Girls – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
J. Nicole Spa for Girls specializes in pampering little girls and pre-teens. We offer “spa” services for little girls in an environment that is designed just for them. When entering our facility, you feel a sense of calm and recognize that little girls are the focus of our business. We specialize in instilling positive self-esteem through activities that encourage young girls to recognize how special they are. Our services include mini manicures, mini pedicure, mini massages, and all natural facial and mini make-overs which enhances outer beauty while we focus on highlighting inner beauty. Birthday parties are the most popular and we offer full party packages which include invitations, crafts, spa services, and pizza/punch/popcorn and candy bags to take home. We use products designed just for girls.
As business owner, I am proud that I am able to offer services which focus on enhancing self-esteem. I feel especially proud when I receive hugs from the guest of honor and her friends and their parents tell me that I exceeded their expectations. I take pride in preparing for each guest and making sure that the experience is unforgettable. I am dancing inside each time a guest announces that she is coming back to have her party in our spa.
I think what sets J. Nicole Spa for Girls apart from others is that we are “all-inclusive” and that we work hard to make sure everyone feels welcome. Over the last few months – we have impressed dads more so than moms and I believe that speaks volume.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I grew up and attended school in Atlanta. I love the diversity and that Atlanta is full of adventure, fun and activities for people of all ages. There is always something to in and around the city. I am a family oriented person and whenever we can, my family plans weekend outings where we are able to experience different adventures.
Atlanta traffic and road construction would be one of the things that I like least.

Love the staff, they are so friendly, they make you feel like an old friend rather than someone they just met. Love the services, atmosphere and the events for all the children’s, especially the parents night out, it give parents a chance for date night if you don’t have anyone to babysit, prices are great
