Today we’d like to introduce you to Summer Stanley.
Summer, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have always loved fashion. I have been customizing clothes for years! In high school, it was the best way for me to remain trendy and original on a student’s budget. Once I got my first job, I learned how to shop on a budget because fashion is an expensive passion! While attending Georgia State University, I had an idea — why not start a business that will allow women like me (who are young, love fashion, but have limited funds and/or time) to look their best for less? Then came Haute Box: a personal styling service and boutique that delivers outfits without breaking the bank. I began shopping for my clients, styling outfits for them and shipping them out. This was about two years ago. Since then, I’ve been growing my brand and styling beautiful women all over the country!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
With any business, there will be struggles. When I first started, I was taking orders via Instagram and Twitter DMs! I had a tweet about my business blow up, and I suddenly became FLOODED with orders. I literally had two other full-time jobs AND school at the time, so I wasn’t getting any sleep. Luckily, since then, I’ve been able to put up my site and get the hang of running a business.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Haute Box story. Tell us more about it.
Haute Box is a personal styling company and boutique that specializes in servicing young women. Clients visit my website, choose what size Haute Box they would like, and fill out a style questionnaire. From there, I take their responses and curate looks for them. Haute Box also has a Boutique where customers can order trendy clothing and accessories.
I am so proud of the range of styles/customers I’ve served, I’ve styled girls for birthdays, conferences, graduations, even meeting their boyfriend’s parents!
What sets me apart from others is that I’m offering a service that would otherwise be considered a luxury at an affordable price. Aside from that, I style women of any style-type. Haute Box is for the contemporary woman, the sexy woman, the street-style woman, and everyone in-between!
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I would say I got lucky when my tweet about Haute Box got traction. That was in the very early days of my business, so I was lucky to get that traffic and I gained so many awesome clients from it that still order today!
