Today we’d like to introduce you to Sydney Brown KYDTHASYD.
So, before we jump into specific questions about what you do, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
In 2013, I was in college attending Gordon State in Barnesville, Ga. I started singing and recording in a college dorm closet with a couple of close friends, Blakk Hippie and Jae Harmony. We dropped a single called “That Pole”. I started dancing in music videos such as Drop that NaeNae with WeAreToonz and Freco & Merlo – Drop Dance. I danced with many talented artists such as KandiReign and Darryl Bailey. In 2016, I started writing and recording my own music and end up dropping a Hot Single called “Exploration,” it’s out available on all mainstream and minor platforms! I was also a part of a group called “Arg” which stands for American Roulette Gang. The artists in the group were King 180 and Stonz. We dropped a mixtape in 2016 also called Death B4 Dishonor. We did a concert together at Vinyl Center Stage performing a few group songs. In December of 2016, I ended up signing a Distribution Deal with That Rabbit Distribution. In 2017, we traveled to Kentucky and did a show as well as the Sweet Auburn Festival. In 2018, the group separated but we still keep on touch. In December 2018, I ended the year with another concert of my own at Vinyl Center Stage featuring other artists. I also performed as one of the headliners at the Atlanta Black Pride in Candler Park. I have done over 10 radio interviews such as Highly Unique Radio, Gurltalk Live, Stoney Love in the Morning, etc. I also have been nominated this year for Best Female Artist of the year at the Atlanta Independent Awards Show with Deon “StrucSupreme” Bowden and attended the B.L.A.C.K. I Am Awards with Dr. Angela Harris.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I’m not going to lie and say it was a smooth road, it’s been some frustrations… sometimes, you have to go through the storm to see the rainbow… lol. Some of the struggles along the way I can say would probably be the sacrifices. Long nights in the studio. Less sleep, balancing life with music and work. Opening up and coming out of my shell in the beginning.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am a songwriter, a singer, rapper, entertainer… just an overall artist. I am known for my music and I do graphics here and there… I work for a moving company as well as helping my girlfriend when it comes to her business which is a Massage Spa Boutique. Make sure you guys come visit us at Inkksescape.com!! I’m most proud of as a company because we have freedom. What sets me apart from others is EVERYBODY LOVES ME and I mean that the humblest way!
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plans for the future is to continue to grow with my music gain, more fans and continue to make good music. I’ve done and reached over 50 countries so I’m hoping to travel to other countries and show the love they’ve shown me through streams!
