Meet Sydney Person of Personal Space Design Co. in Downtown Area

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sydney Person.

Sydney, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Ever since the young age of 15 years old, I’ve always had an entrepreneur spirit. It started when I got my very first camera for Christmas in 2015, which was shortly after I lost my stepfather, Nicholas Jackson. A lot of times when I’m telling my story, I like to tell people about him because he’s had such a great impact on my life and my businesses. I began “Personal Touch Photography” which was my very first photography business, specializing in commercial photography, wedding photography, lifestyle photography, and so on. I did a lot of photo shoots for my close family and friends that needed memories created. It wasn’t until October of 2019 when I realized that photography wasn’t my passion, graphic designing was. With the majority of my time being spent in my dorm my freshman year of college, I developed an unexplainable love for branding and design. Part of this was because I didn’t have a car my freshman year, so I wasn’t able to travel and shoot as much as I wanted to. I hardly used my camera in my first year in college, but I was always somewhere behind my computer building brands for different entrepreneurs like myself. Design is something that has brought me a never-ending joy. My stepfather was someone who I looked up to and admired. He was also my best friend, and one of the best businessmen I knew. He inspired me to take my design to the next level, and develop a company that caters to all entrepreneurs. I started Personal Space Design Co. in October of 2018, and I’ve been in love with design since. I’ve met some really amazing business owners, and have built life-long relationships with some of my clients!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
This has probably been one of the toughest challenges I’ve ever faced, but I never would trade it for anything different. Sometimes, managing a design company can be extremely hard when you’re managing it by yourself. It can be tough to remember to do some of the smallest things. It can be a smooth road when I’m organized. It can be tough taking care of the business sides of things, like sending invoices, contracts, making sure bookings don’t override each other, etc. Designing is the fun part.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Personal Space Design Co. story. Tell us more about it.
Personal Space Design Co. is a graphic designing company that specializes in web design, logo development, product design, flyer design, and more. As the lead designer, I do the majority of the designing for my clients that inquire. In my opinion, I don’t think my company is known for a specific thing. I get clients who are interested in all types of services from restaurant menu designs to web designs. I am most proud of how well I work with my clients, and how I am able to build their trust when it comes to designs. It makes me feel proud to know that people trust my company with their businesses. I think what sets my company apart from others is how clean, neat, and classy my designs are. I’ve been told that a lot of my designs are very easy on and appealing to the eye due to how clean they are. To me, that’s what catches everyone’s attention. Simple, yet exquisite.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t consider myself lucky when it comes to my company. I truly consider myself blessed. I pray over my design company every chance I get, and I also ask my stepfather to protect it for me. I know in my heart that a lot of the achievements I’ve experienced were because of my prayers, my stepdad, and my hard work.
