Today we’d like to introduce you to Sylvester Roberts.
Hi Sylvester , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey began several years ago while working as a crisis line responder. I had this notion to start my own business for counseling but I did not have all the details worked out in my mind so I put it aside and went on with life. Part of my hesitation was I did not know what specialties I was best suited for nor did I know the population that I wanted to work with. Some years after that I had a dream about going forward with the idea to start my own business. Around this time, I had a conversation with my supervisor about the type of crisis calls that piqued my interest. I told her that when I got a call about someone having a crisis of faith, I took special interest. I realized then that my passion was to do Christian counseling. Later I was able to narrow down my specialties: doing premarital/marital counseling, emotional abuse/self-esteem issues and spiritual abuse issues. I also work with individuals dealing with general anxiety, depression and relationship issues.
I met a gentleman that was doing the same thing I was doing: Chrisitan counseling, He was able to mentor and advise me on getting started to set up my private practice. I opened up my practice Healing Waters Christian Counseling in August 2021 and I continue to provide counseling services to individuals, couples and families.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
So far this journey of having my own Christian counseling practice has been great. My hope is to continue to trust God for his wisdom and to participate in various trainings as needed. My main desire is to expand my clientele and get to a point where I am doing my practice full time. I would say the the only concern is marketing my practice which is something I am working on.

I have a Christian counseling service called Healing Waters Christian Counseling. I started this business in August 2021 and my specialties are: premarital/marital counseling, emotional abuse/self-esteem issues and religious/spiritual abuse. I work with individuals, couples and families; I also work with those dealing with a crisis of faith as well as anxiety and depression. At Healing Waters Christian Counseling, I am dedicated to guiding individuals toward healing, hope, and wholeness. By integrating biblical truth with proven psychological practices, to provide compassionate, Christ-centered counseling that addresses the spiritual, emotional, relational, and mental aspects of life. The goal is to empower each person to experience restoration and transformation in every area of their life, helping them to find peace, purpose, and healing in Christ.
I mostly see clients virtually and I am able to work with individuals, couples, or families all over the United States. What I am most proud of is that I am humbled and grateful that God has chosen me to be used in this way to help individuals navigate life issues. This review from a client says so much about why I do this: Sylvester is a devoted man of God who always leads with powerful prayer, a tender listening heart and consistently shares excellent insight and wisdom that is both scripturally sound and applicable to real life scenarios. You can sense the real, authentic love for God and neighbor with every session, which is such a blessing in these last days. The Bible says in Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. I also believe in the statement on success: Success is where opportunity meets preparation.
