Meet Tabitha Lewis

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Tabitha Lewis. Tabitha was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Zollyann Howell.

Tabitha, can you walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
All of my life I’ve been into cameras & photography. My father, who is a photographer also, always had a camera in the house to capture memories of my brother and I. When I was 15, my father gifted me my first digital camera. I was very ecstatic especially being a teenager with a MySpace page. That meant new looks and themes every week, if you know you know! Almost every week I would sneak in my camera to take pictures in school and a lot of times people met me outside to have photo shoots for their pages. It was a very dope time to be “that girl with the camera”, I loved it. Photography was a hobby that always put me in a happy place.

At the age of 20, I became a mom. I had a DSLR camera at the time and every day my daughter would have mini photo shoots. It always gave me joy to see her images framed and hanging on walls around the house. It was an even better feeling knowing that God has given me the ability to be creative and show off my beautiful child with my beautiful work.

Seven years later the COVID pandemic had arrived. I was expecting my second child when quarantine begun. It was a very scary time not knowing what was next for me as a mom of two. I didn’t want my children, especially an infant leaving my sight if I had to go back to work. I sat long hours thinking about it, praying about it, crying about it, talking about it. I still wasn’t sure what my future plans were for some months, until I gave birth to my son. My renewed love for taking pictures had lit up inside of me. In the hospital I personalized his bassinet, and took pictures of him from every angle possible non-stop. At that moment I knew “I’m going to be a photographer!”. I used to feel disappointed that it took me so long to figure it out, but everything happens for a reason, and all I can do is thank God tremendously.

3 years later, I feel really blessed to be able to turn my favorite creative hobby into income. Tabby Snapped is now a well known name for photography shoots & events in the NYC area. I am enjoying the journey that photography is taking me, and meeting new beautiful people and clients that have turned into family. My kids are able to watch their mom be happy at work, thank God. And this is just the beginning.

Please tell us more about your brand, Tabby Snapped
Tabby Snapped is a photography business. It includes photo shoots, photography in events/shows, and a 360 booth for events as well. With Tabby Snapped not only will you get photography services when you book, you pretty much get a new friend who supports you as well. I always love to show appreciation to my clients because without them I wouldn’t have come so far. I’m very proud of the continuous growth that Tabby Snapped always shows when it comes to creativity. Being creative is everything to me.

So, as we mentioned to our audience earlier, you were introduced to us by Books by Zee and we really admire them and what they’ve built. For folks who might not be as familiar, can you tell them a bit about your experience with Books by Zee.
I absolutely loved Zollyann’s Annual Mindset Mixer! One of my favorite events I’ve been booked in so far. All the women were very friendly and came in ready to slay in front of my camera. It felt relieving being in a room with women who can relate to the challenges of being an entrepreneur, and listening to the information and gems being dropped to help overcome those challenges. I was able to connect with guests and vendors, which I am grateful for. I would love to attend more events like this where women come together and help each other.
