Today we’d like to introduce you to Taheerah Rosby.
Taheerah, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
It was 2013, I work retail, I definitely wasn’t content but I also had no idea what I was passionate about. One day, of my friends named Perri, called me and said she was starting esthetician school and she thought that it would be a perfect fit for me. At the time, I had no idea what an esthetician was or what the job entailed so that same week, I scheduled a tour of the school and I absolutely loved the environment and the curriculum and I enrolled as soon as I finished the tour. I started at Elaine Sterling in October of 2013. Initially, I wanted to go to school for makeup but I figured out quickly that wasn’t very good at makeup (lol). So, I graduated from school in July of 2014. Right after school, I took a couple of lash classes but lashes just didn’t hold my attention. So, I was feeling a little annoyed because I couldn’t find a job that I enjoyed so just put it in my mind that whatever my next job was I would just work there until I at least made back the $14,000 that I spent for school. Finally, I landed a gig at a waxing salon and I fell in love with waxing, I was great at it and I was so awesome at making people feel comfortable in something that was so uncomfortable. Over the years, I’ve worked at different establishments and each one I could pick apart things that I didn’t like or how management ran things and I knew that eventually, I wanted to have my own business but WHEN was the question. June of 2019 is when I decided to launch my own business and it was the best decision I could’ve made for myself.
Has it been a smooth road?
Honestly, it’s been pretty smooth thus far. Everything really fell right into place so I can only assume it was my time to step out and do my thing. My biggest struggle was letting go of my full-time job so I can focus all of my energy on my business.

My company is Wax U Atl Waxing & Beauty Lounge. I’m a licensed Esthetician and specialize in body waxing and sugaring. I’m known for my $25 Brazilian waxes. I’m most proud of the quality of service that I provide. I pride myself on giving awesome customer service and making sure it’s always great energy in my space. What sets me apart from others is that my space looks so fun and it’s really girly and it has my personality written all over it. I think that what makes people book with me and my quality service is what makes them continue to come back.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I think Atlanta (Sandy Springs) is an awesome place to open a business. It’s so many people moving into this area and its growing so quickly so why not grow your business at the same time. Marketing is the key to any successful business. Go hard for your brand by all means.
