Today we’d like to introduce you to TAira Duke.
Hi TAira, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Our journey began in the heart of Atlanta, not with a grand business plan, but with a calling. As a nurse, it was my mother who saw firsthand how many patients missed critical appointments—not because they didn’t want care, but because they had no reliable way to get there. She often reflects back on the look of worry in their eyes when they weren’t sure how they’d make it to treatment, and the relief when we managed to arrange transportation. Those moments stayed with her.
That’s when the idea for MedMove of Georgia Inc. was born. She knew there had to be a better way—something more compassionate, more dependable. So she brought the idea to me and together we set out to build something that could fill that gap in our community. We brought together her experience in healthcare and my background in nonprofit operations and administration to create a service that was more than just transportation—it was care in motion.
Starting was anything but easy. We faced all the usual challenges of launching a business, but with the added complexity of operating in the healthcare space. We started small, with just a one vehicle and a big vision: to ensure no one in our community was left behind because they couldn’t find a ride to care. We equipped every vehicle not only with top-tier safety features but also with comfort and warmth in mind, making sure each trip felt safe and dignified.
MedMove is growing —but our mission isn’t changing. Today, we’re proud to serve the metro Atlanta area with a team of dedicated drivers who go beyond just transporting passengers. They’re trained to understand and support each client’s unique needs, making every journey a caring experience.
Now, we’re more than just a non-emergency transportation company—we’re a vital part of the healthcare ecosystem. We partner with providers, insurers, and social services to make sure that access to healthcare isn’t a privilege—it’s a right.
Looking back, what started as a nurse’s concern has become a movement—a legacy of compassion and innovation. MedMove of Georgia Inc. is my heart in motion, and we’re just getting started.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As a non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) provider serving the Atlanta-Metro area, MedMove of Georgia Inc. operates at the intersection of healthcare access and logistical coordination. While our mission is rooted in compassion and community service, delivering consistent, reliable transportation to patients presents a number of persistent challenges. These obstacles range from systemic issues within the healthcare and insurance landscape to operational limitations and workforce constraints.
Unlike standard transportation services, NEMT drivers must undergo specialized training to safely assist patients with mobility limitations, cognitive impairments, or chronic conditions. Recruiting individuals who meet these standards—and who are also committed to the empathy-driven nature of our work—has become increasingly difficult, especially amid rising competition in the broader transportation and delivery sectors.
Scheduling and route optimization also present logistical challenges. Patients’ appointments are often time-sensitive and scattered across a wide geographic area. Atlanta’s traffic congestion, unexpected delays at medical facilities, and last-minute appointment changes can disrupt even the best-laid plans. Ensuring on-time arrivals while maintaining high standards of care and safety requires advanced scheduling software, constant communication with healthcare providers, and a flexible, responsive workforce—all of which add complexity and cost to daily operations.
Additionally, some of the patients we serve face socio-economic barriers that indirectly impact transportation reliability. Missed appointments, difficulty communicating due to language barriers or lack of phone access, and limited understanding of how NEMT services work can all result in no-shows or miscommunication. These occurrences not only waste valuable resources but also highlight the broader issue of healthcare inequity that our services aim to address.
Compliance with ever-evolving state and federal regulations adds another layer of operational strain. NEMT providers must meet stringent vehicle, driver, and documentation standards, which require continuous monitoring, staff training, and administrative oversight. While we are committed to upholding these standards for the safety and well-being of our clients, the regulatory burden can be particularly heavy for small, mission-driven companies like ours.
Despite these obstacles, MedMove of Georgia remains committed to our founding vision: ensuring that transportation never stands in the way of someone receiving the care they need. We continue to adapt, invest in better technology, seek strategic partnerships, and advocate for systemic changes that support the sustainability of NEMT services. Every challenge we face reinforces the importance of our mission and strengthens our resolve to be a reliable lifeline for those navigating the complex journey to better health.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about MedMove of Georgia Inc. ?
At MedMove of Georgia Inc., we’re not just in the business of transportation—we’re in the business of care. My mother and I founded MedMove with one shared goal: to bridge the gap between healthcare and the people who need it most. What started as a heartfelt response to a critical need has grown into a trusted, community-focused non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) service across metro Atlanta.
We specialize in providing safe, reliable, and compassionate transportation for individuals who need help getting to and from medical appointments. That includes seniors, patients with chronic conditions, individuals with mobility challenges, and anyone else who might otherwise miss the care they need simply because they don’t have a way to get there. But what really sets us apart is that we see this work as personal—it’s not just about getting people from point A to point B. It’s about how they feel during the journey: respected, cared for, and understood.
Every aspect of MedMove is rooted in empathy and precision. My background in operations and logistics, paired with my mother’s experience in nursing, allowed us to design a service that meets both the clinical and emotional needs of our passengers. Our drivers are more than drivers—they’re trained professionals who understand how to support patients with sensitivity and dignity.
We are especially proud of how we’ve built partnerships with healthcare providers, insurance carriers, and social service organizations. These collaborations allow us to provide a seamless experience that integrates directly into the patient’s care plan. It’s our way of ensuring transportation is never a barrier to better health.
Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is our heart. The compassion that started this company is still at the core of everything we do. Our vehicles are equipped with safety and comfort in mind, but it’s the human touch—our team’s genuine care for the people we serve—that really defines us.
I want readers to know that MedMove of Georgia Inc. is more than a service—it’s a promise. A promise that we will show up, on time and with care. A promise that we will treat your loved ones like our own. And a promise that as we grow, we’ll never lose sight of the people and purpose that got us here.
If you’re looking for a non-emergency transportation partner who truly values your health, your time, and your dignity, we’re here. MedMove of Georgia Inc.—your journey to health, powered by compassion and innovation.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What began as a small, purpose-driven operation has evolved into a trusted non-emergency medical transportation provider. MedMove’s foundation is rooted in the belief that healthcare access is a right, not a privilege. From the beginning, we infused our healthcare and logistical expertise into every aspect of the business—from vehicle safety and comfort to staff training focused on empathy and patient-centered service.
MedMove has grown in size and reach, but its mission remains the same: to change lives one ride at a time. Our team is trained not just in non-emergency transportation but in patient care, ensuring each trip is a safe, respectful experience. Through partnerships with healthcare providers and community organizations, MedMove has become a vital link in Atlanta’s healthcare ecosystem.
Today, what we are building stands as a testament to what happens when compassion drives innovation. MedMove of Georgia is a movement—delivering care, connection, and hope across the community.
