Today we’d like to introduce you to Talisha White.
Talisha, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
When I was seven years old, I begged my mother for a sewing machine for Christmas. When I finally did get the machine…I broke it the same day. Determined to not let my dreams fade, I saved my money and my Aunt helped me buy a new one. I taught myself to use it -before YouTube videos- and the rest is history. I began sewing for friends and family and eventually took the leap to starting my own business. I
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Anything worth having doesn’t come easy. My successes haven’t been without challenges, and my success isn’t final. I’ve been blessed to learn so much through my journey and apply it to creating the future I envision. I’ve poured my blood, sweat, and tears into my garment quite literally-I’ve sewn my hand to a dress before! But, above it all, I wouldn’t change a thing! The lives I’ve touched is worth every late night and early morning always.
Talisha White – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
The mission of my brand has always been to “Change the World One Stitch at a time”. I know my dresses alone aren’t going to do much, but I know the women who wear them will. I am so humbled to actually be living in a time where the women who are wearing my dresses are redefining what it means to be beautiful. In September of 2018, I was honored to have nearly 60 models of all ages, sizes, and abilities shack the foundation of fashion week.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success isn’t a definitive term. As you evolve, so does your definition of success as has mine. For me, my biggest measure of success has been touching the lives of others through my fashion. Being able to be part of, if even just a little, someone else’s dream to me means I’m the most successful designer in the world.
