Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamara Mitchell-Davis.
Tamara, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve always wanted to write a book (my story) but because I didn’t know how to begin, I kept putting it off. Growing up, there weren’t many authors in my circle, let alone neighborhood. The authors I knew were those who had written books that sat on shelves in the local library or book stores.
Needless to say, it initially seemed so farfetched. So, I took my focus off wanting to write a book and focused on family, career and survival. Years had gone by.
Fast forward to my adult years, the burning desire to write never left me. Matter of fact, it intensified. It no longer became about me just sharing my personal story of trauma, obstacles, challenges and triumphs of how I overcame. It became my mission to inspire others, to leave a legacy for my family and to leave my stamp on this world acknowledging the fact that Tamara Mitchell-Davis lived!
Once I figured out the process and published my first book, it’s like I was bit by the writing bug and more books were birthed. My ideas never turned off and the desire to help others along the way never subsided. Today, I coach other women on writing and publishing their stories. It became bigger than me just telling my story.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road. Some of the challenges have been finding balance with family, career and business, removing the word “perfection” from my vocabulary and venturing into the unknown, outside of my comfort zone.
There is no such thing as balance and perfection. I had to learn this. If my focus or attention was on one thing then something else might suffer. I’ve had to learn the importance of effective communication with my spouse and realizing that perfection could not be attained. It’s an illusion. When I removed perfection from the equation, that’s when I really start seeing traction in my personal growth, business and family. Done is certainly better than perfect but I had to learn that.
