Meet Tamära

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Tamära.

Tamära

Hi Tamära, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I grew up a military brat, which was pretty cool but very unstable. We lived in so many different cities and that surely made me who I am today. Having to move every few years made it a challenge to make friends, so I did sports and joined every club that I could to make that experience easier.

I met so many people with so many different stories throughout my life that somewhere down the line, I realized I wanted to be a storyteller. It wasn’t until I got to college that I knew how. I was stopped by a woman in a bookstore who was casting for a short film. She said she had been searching for their leading lady and that I would be a great match.

A couple of days later, I met with the director, which was the start of my acting journey. I finished school knowing that once I graduated, I would start pursuing a professional career. I moved to Atlanta shortly after and spent my first two years studying my craft, networking, and really just putting in the work. Once I decide that I am going to put my mind to something, I like to put my best foot forward.

Throughout the past few years here in Atlanta, I have had the pleasure and privilege to be in so many great independent films entered into various festival circuits. I booked my first film for television, ‘Lust’ on the Lifetime Network in 2021, and then my first feature ‘Preaching Lies’ directed by Courtney Arlett.

In 2022 since then, I have been cast in many more films, series, and commercials. My journey has included me becoming a model, voice actor, and content producer. Currently, you can catch me in the Kountry Wayne Series as ‘Tamära’ also very affectionally known as “Honey Pot”.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story. Has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
Nothing worth having, comes easy. For generations, my family hasn’t exactly been Hollywood regulars. So, diving into the entertainment industry felt like entering uncharted territory. Picture this: someone like me, a perpetual student who prides themselves on knowing a bit about everything, suddenly faced a whole new ball game. I started from scratch, and believe me, it has been a wild ride into the unknown.

I am so incredibly blessed to have a supportive family, but I would be lying if I said that they initially thought this was the best decision for me. Then, once I felt like I got everyone on board, the pandemic happened, and dreams don’t necessarily pay the bills. There were several times when I considered dropping everything and following a more “responsible” path, but something in my spirit said to keep going. Trust me, ya girl is GOING.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe you can tell us more about your work next?
I like to consider myself a Renaissance woman, there are not many things that I am not willing to learn how to do. Most of the time you can catch me on set in front of and behind the camera. Acting is my calling but I have also found a love in producing and directing. Outside of film, I am a model, voice actress, and dancer. I have truly dedicated myself to developing into an artist as a whole.

I am known for bringing real life to the characters that I portray. I am most proud of my evolution from not having a clue where to start to making my own way and figuring it out as I go along. I think what really sets me apart is my willingness to put in the work and learn what I don’t know. I will forever be a student of life.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is my tribe. Knowing that I am surrounded by family and friends who not only cherish me but truly want to see me win means the world to me.

I feel like, there are so many outside influences that can knock you off your square and have you questioning your identity and values but if you have a solid foundation and community that you know you can rely on, you will always find your way back home.
