Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamera Ison.
Hi Tamera, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Tamera Ison and I’m a licensed esthetician here in Atlanta, GA. I grew up in Baltimore, MD – I left Baltimore to pursue being a Radio/TV host. I was attending Georgia State However, during that journey I was a server at a restaurant that required makeup and somehow I convinced my self that I NEEDED makeup. That’s not true, you don’t NEED makeup. Makeup is a want not a need , so I started taking care of my skin underneath. After realizing I truly enjoyed doing research on skincare and making my DIY ( which I would not recommend knowing what I know now) I toured Elaine Sterling and enrolled. During that journey I became a MOM. I have a beautiful 3 year old daughter going on 30. The other day she told me “mommy get out your emotions” yes I know! Something else lol. After having Trinity, I knew I wanted to be successful so nothing could stop me! I went back to school to finish my 2 months and then I graduated.
After graduating, I started my business it has been a challenge but every day, I remind myself where I started in November 2019 and that’s what keeps me going! I can’t wait to see where I am at my 5 year mark!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This has not been a smooth road, I faced a couple of struggles but that’s what helped me grow. Some struggles I faced was building a clientele after a pandemic, balancing family time and building a business, and managing multiple job titles, ie; esthetician, the boss, content creator, the accountant, everything all at once. I think overall, what’s challenging is how overwhelming entrepreneurship can be, it’s not for everyone but if you are dedicated and disciplined, you WILL be successful.
We’ve been impressed with Skin Appeal LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My name is Tamera, owner of Skin Appeal LLC. We offer skincare and corrective facial treatments. We specialize in anti-aging treatments and hyperpigmentation. What makes you happy?
What makes me happy is helping others and growth. I am a very thoughtful person and I enjoy helping others with whatever problem or task they have or just making someone’s day easy. Growth makes me happy because I enjoy looking back at how far I came. How far I came as a mom, a partner, a friend, and an entrepreneur.
