Meet Tamyka Robinson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamyka Robinson.

Hi Tamyka, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I had the concept in mind to start a small business during the height of the pandemic in mid-2020, however I didn’t start putting the concept into action until the beginning of 2021. Once I landed on the idea of a vending machine business, I instantly knew I wanted to differentiate myself from the traditional vending machine types. And the concept of convenient daily retail grab-n-go products was born.

With apartment home living people working remote more, students confined to their dorm rooms, extended stay hotels offering longer-term accommodations, I thought what would be more convenient than people having easy access to their favorite daily essential personal care items in a vending machine without the need to make a trip to the local retail store.

There was a lot of research, preparation, and dedication that I had to put in to get the business going and operational, and the continuous work must be ongoing.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been an easy road, and the term good things don’t come easy is a confirmation of my journey. However, commitment, consistency, and dedication is the key. Along with these sentiments must be belief, ambition, and hard work.

Some of my struggles have been finding a quality location, potential clients not getting back to me, and rejection from different businesses. I had to learn how to keep my emotions in check, understand my business does and will bring value to someone, I just had to be patient and continue to practice patience. It’s very important to not let any discouragement stop you from believing in yourself and in your goals & dreams. I told myself the discouragement is just a temporary distraction.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My corporate career is an IT specialist in the field of IT security, however I’ve always had a passion of starting my own business. I don’t mind working in corporate as it has and continue to teach me important life lessons that I can carry on and apply in my own business such as building relationships, listening, integrity, don’t fear failure, and several other valuable lessons.

I’m most proud of wholeheartedly committing to going back and pursuing my college degree and seeing my business come to life.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
People can reach out to me through my Instagram, website or send me an email. Once a few communications are exchanged, it may make sense to give out my phone number.

We are actively looking for locations to place our vending machines in.
