Today we’d like to introduce you to Tanetta Carter.
Tanetta, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
At the tender age of 12, I realized that baton twirling was a unique talent that could open many doors for me. In high school, I made the Frederick Douglass High School Majorette Squad and eventually became the feature baton twirler during my junior year. I was accepted to attend Clark Atlanta University and became their feature twirler. While twirling for Clark Atlanta, I was recruited by Morehouse College to be their feature twirler, as well. After receiving my degree, I became the Co-Director and Instructor for Touch of Class Twirlers and Dancers. A couple years later, I decided to take a leap of faith, founded my own company and became the director of PAC WORLDWIDE established in 2007, home of Precision Auxiliary Corps and Precision Athletics.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Thankfully, the road of creating Precision Auxiliary Corps was smooth sailing. My family, friends, and former students were involved with enhancing my vision, teaching classes, marketing, and much more. I believe every entrepreneur should have a network of individuals who will support you or provide constructive criticism to help your company succeed. However, my ultimate struggle is searching for a “home” for PAC that has high ceilings to toss our batons, smooth flooring to do advanced turns and prevent injuries, and a mirrored wall for our members to learn synchronization. I can not wait until the day we have our own studio!
Please tell us about Precision Auxiliary Corps.
I am the founder and head coach of Precision Auxiliary Corps, LLC. (PAC), which is an award-winning athletic performing arts training company based in Atlanta, GA. We are known for providing training in Baton Twirling, Dance, and Flag Twirling. It is rare to find a company in Atlanta that teaches baton twirling AND flag twirling. Membership is open to individuals between the ages of 5-20 years old. PAC members have the opportunity to perform and compete at a variety of events, such as, but not limited to the following: NFL, NBA, and WBNA pre-game & half-time shows, parades, pep rallies, and other special events. We also offer our services to schools to enhance their dance or auxiliary program with new or improved skills.
Members of Precision gain unique talents that will set them apart to allow them to make their high school auxiliary auditions, get awarded college scholarships, and win competitions!
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory was being able to dance in the 1996 Olympic Opening ceremonies in Atlanta. It was magical once in a lifetime experience. This moment inspired me that you can achieve anything as long as you work hard and believe in yourself. I hope my students will be blessed with multiple opportunities to perform in major events like the Olympics!
