Today we’d like to introduce you to Tanjineka Brown.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
At a young age, my innocents were crudity taking away on a Sunday morning at the basement of Heaven’s Little Angle Learn Center in Camden, NJ. The Authorities immediately comprehend the attacker, and I was rushed to the emergency room to undergo the rap kit. I didn’t know what felt worse, getting attacked, or the process of the rap kit. I was sadly told I wouldn’t be unable to bear children and felt as if everyone looked at me as I was damaged goods. That didn’t stop this bright-eyed little girl. I continued to keep my faith and did what I was told from the Lord.
Jumping to the mid-age of my life, I met a young lady near my age with nine children. We didn’t share the same life background but became closed than a biological brother and sister. Cheryl took sick after the 11 children and passed away with cancer 2003. At that time in my life, I had helped raised cousins, my children’s brother and sister, and activist for The City of Camden New Jersey and in out of News broadcast and Time Magazine for Being the youngest candidate on the URD Board, not to mention going to college without a GED or Highschool Diploma. I took Cheryl’s Children anyway; I didn’t care where my life was at, at the time. I was told from the Man above to take care of the children and don’t accept any finances I was offered. My wake life was a little afraid for I already was a single parent of three, and to add 11 more would be a challenge. But it wasn’t.
I was a successful bus driver who won awards for giving and inputting time with not just the 11 children who I singly raised, the children who road my bus named Jo Jo, an active parent throughout my children’s school. From feeding the Burlington City High School football’s team at every home game, or being a commissioner for Burlington County’s Pop Warner’s, and Owner of Noonama’s TLC Child Care Center, and a 80 % graduation rate from my own home, I received my GED at Burlington County College. The community & school board wanted to appointed me a chair to set on the school board. I decline.
I decline because my illness took the best of my life at the time. I was born with Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is the most common type of autoimmune arthritis. It is caused when the immune system (the body’s defense system) is not working properly. RA causes pain and swelling in the wrist and small joints of the hand, feet, and throughout the body. My biological daughter was a flight attendant for Delta Airline, her fiancé and she mentioned she was conceiving twins and are relocating to Atlanta. With no questions as I gave everything away in my 7 bedroom, three story home and relocated with my child with no second thought, for I was told I would be in a wheelchair in two years and unable to walk.
I didn’t care about the pain I experience throughout my body or my heart for the children I dedicated my life too who turned on me because they were told No. I had two grandchildren on the way and a daughter who need me more than ever. Kingston and Rowan were healthy born, and the joy of that took every sadness away. I was going through in my life. Living in Atlanta, I begin to walk again without assistance, found doctors who help slow down my illness, cure me of stage one cancer, forcefully forced from my daughter and Jesus Christ to start a catering business named after my Glam babies, KiRo Sweets Catering Business.
