Today we’d like to introduce you to Tara Hanover.
Hi Tara, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am a national television host for the Gem Shopping Network as well as the owner and publisher of Our Town Monthly magazine.
I started out in the media at the age of 20 at CNN as a hair and makeup artist working with anchors and celebrities from around the globe.
Moving from behind the camera to in front of the camera came natural to me and I was blessed to be given the opportunity.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Clearly, life is never “smooth” or easy but if you expect change and embrace it everything is easier.
I have learned from the setbacks and luckily always came back stronger. Perseverance and grit have always been my “secret weapon” for success.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have always been blessed with a big personality and the power of perseverance. I have also always never put restrictions on myself or my career path.
Just because I started in the industry as a “celebrity artist/stylist” did not mean that had to be my lifelong career. I did not set out to be in front of the camera but when the opportunity presented itself, I tried it, same as the magazine.
I had been a lifestyle contributor for years for various publications during the pandemic I was offered to own and publish a 15 years publication, although it was scary and new, I decided why not and thankfully I did. It has not always been easy but an amazing journey and we are now 18 years and going strong.
Life is an amazing journey if you don’t put limitations on yourself.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Being anywhere with my grandmother, I called mamaw. She was the most amazing and supportive person ever!
She is one of the reasons I have always believed in myself and gotten back up to keep going when life has gotten hard.
Also, my mother who always allowed me to be my own person and make my own choices even if they were not always the traditional route.
