Taryn, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Honestly, I didn’t see “CREATIONSBYTARYN” coming this far. It all started off as an idea and it took a while for me to apply pressure behind it to make it a reality. It all started one day around Father’s Day this year. I wanted to get my dad a gift but I didn’t want it to be ordinary. Somehow, I came across a gift basket that was for Father’s Day. But, I couldn’t find anyone to create one for me. This caused me to take matters into my own hands. Since that creation, I’ve grown to love what I do.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Smooth?! I wish it was that easy. I feel as if your business is not a business if you don’t have a few bumps in the road. Some of the struggles that I’ve experienced thus far have been ensuring that I make a decent profit from EACH and EVERY creation. Additionally, I’ve struggled with overwhelming myself when I get multiple orders at once. I’ve had nights where I’ve went to sleep late to ensure that my creations are ready on time. I tend to overwork myself sometimes due to the hustling mindset that’s embedded within.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the CREATIONSBYTARYN story. Tell us more about the business.
My small business consists of creating gift creations for birthdays, holidays, etc. Later on down the line, I want to expand my business to creating candied treats as well. What do I do? I customize gift baskets/cups to my customer’s liking based on their wants, simple as that. Personally, I feel as though I specialize in creating and innovating and this is reflected throughout my business. As a company, I am most proud of how far I’ve come within this short amount of time. My business has only been around for about two months and I’ve already made so much progress. I’ve went from getting one order per week to getting three or four per week. CREATIONSBYTARYN isn’t like any other business because there aren’t many people who do what I do. You don’t find many businesses that create gift creations as I do.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck has played a few key roles in my life. For instance, I feel as if luck has played a role when it comes to being in the right place at the right time. I say that to say. When you’re in the right place at the right time, you put yourself in a predicament to have more opportunities.
