Today we’d like to introduce you to Terrance Simpson.
Terrance, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
The PSV brand started as an affirmation which was Plus Sign Vibez in 2015.
After being incarcerated, I knew that I needed something to call my own. I mentored at churches, school, juvenile facilities amongst other places. At the same time, I started my music career here in Nashville. My initial goal was to create a brand parallel to my new lifestyle of guiding the young in decision-making.
After working for a parking company and being laid off due to Covid after eight years in 2020, I knew it was time to put my all into something that I could build that no one could take from men. 2020 is when I opened The PSV Store
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it has not been a smooth ride. If it was smooth, I don’t think we would be where we currently are.
Some of the challenges would have to include not having an initial team. Having to build trust from people based off of their character and not their business skills…
Anyone can do anything. However, only a few know what their skill set is, how to play the role and then execute for the betterment of the team.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an artist and curator. I love to give artists and businesses the opportunity to utilize a safe that’s created for us and by us.
My duty is to help visual and recording artists gain the confidence to utilize our platform at The PSV Store to break into the Nashville scene of artists and creatives.
Most proud of all of the businesses that have started at The PSV Store to bring more awareness to their brand and art and was able to expand their business endeavors in uncharted territory that they may not have had the opportunity to experience if we hadn’t met.
What sets us apart from others is we are a hands-on business that allows creatives the freedom to work regularly inside of our brick and mortar, all while being able to capitalize on the 6-10 events that we host inside of the store monthly.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson that I’ve learned is to separate my head from my heart when it comes to business.
When I first started, I created the platform out of pure passion for the community. We have since grown into a full-blown household business for the city of Nashville.
Since the growth has been consistent, it has forced us to restructure our business motto to create systems that serve anyone who wants to partner with us.
Separating my heart from my head has allowed me to see the platform as a business, its just a passion project.
