Meet Terrance Williams “ForeverPlayerMade”

Today we’d like to introduce you to Terrance Williams.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
What up.. my name is ForeverPlayerMade aka Cashmere McKinley. I started making music forever ago. I don’t even know when I started, but I always enjoyed it. I’m originally from Mississippi, but I’ve lived all over the country including Georgia before this point now in Texas. I was mostly raised on that 3rd coast south shit like Juvenile and Cash Money Records and No Limit, UGK, Scarface… As well as a whole lot of Aaliyah, R Kelly, and Whoever Timbaland was working with at the moment… my mom loved that shit. A whole lot of Justin Timberlake, and Missy Elliott hahaha.. but I knew I wanted to rap when I saw Nelly in the Welcome to Atlanta video, and the camera was spinning around him. I thought it was the coolest shit ever, you feel me? So I started writing raps and poetry in my notepad at school. Then I didn’t know how to operate soundclick to get some beats, so I started making my own around 08 with my guy J. Reese. He was big on the Neptunes sound.

Please tell us about your art.
I just make music… I don’t really know how to quantify it because I pretty much do all of this by myself. I make beats; I mix it, I do the singing and rapping and humming… I’m really just in here expressing my innermost thoughts or having fun or trying to figure out how to do both. I got a lot of shit on my mind and the different ways that I make music all help me in some way. Even if it’s just to speak on what’s going on. I make some songs, and people tell me they felt what I was talking about. Like it let them know they weren’t the only ones going through the shit. That’s not really my inspiration for this, but I do like to help people and give out game, and I’ve always wanted to be a teacher, so maybe I can combine this shit? Who knows. I just want people to enjoy these tunes. What you should know about my artwork is that sometimes I’ll slip a joke in there so don’t take it too seriously… None of us getting out of this shit alive any way you feel me?

What do you think about the conditions for artists today? Has life become easier or harder for artists in recent years? What can cities like ours do to encourage and help art and artists thrive?
I think it’s easier than ever to get your music out there. You can buy beats online, record a whole album on a cell phone app or two, and send it to get mixed and mastered for under $500… may not be the best quality but you can put that out for under $50 and have it stream everywhere. I dropped my first mixtape on all streaming platforms back in September; it cost me $20 with DistroKid. Per year. As much music as I want to put out. There is a lot of music out there from all over the place, and it seems like everybody making beats too, but those who are in it for the long haul will get to where they are going, Lord willing. If you’re making music, whether good OR bad, and you put that WORK in, you can make it. I’m on my way to $100,000,000 liquid right now. I just gotta go pick it up.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
I don’t really have any exhibitions, but you can listen to my iTunes (at https://itunes.apple.com/bs/album/thug-tearz-feat-g100/1435017309?i=1435017483) or my Soundcloud (at Soundcloud.com/foreverplayermade)
