Meet Terrence and Erica Redmond of Practical Foods in Cobb County

Today we’d like to introduce you to Terrence and Erica Redmond.

Terrence and Erica, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Terrence Redmond- I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in November of 2011. After many years of dealing with the deterioration of my body, taking medication that worsened the illness (losing function of my limbs & eyesight) I ultimately had to leave my job, due to no longer being able to do the daily functions it required. Not too long after my departure from my long-time job, I met a woman on the internet that overcame the same disease that I was suffering from and I immediately reached out to her. Tina began to consult me from afar and showed me how and what to do in regards to overcoming my disease. I was excited and nervous when I began my healing journey and after completing a 45-day detox/fast, I was even more eager to continue on with this lifestyle because I felt my body beginning to feel how it used to before Multiple Sclerosis took over. The nutritional guide created by Dr. Sebi was rather intimidating because I was confused as to where and how to purchase and cook the limited amount of foods that are on his list.

I immediately recognized the immense struggle there was to live this lifestyle and then birthed Practical Foods with my wife & Co-Owner Erica. Practical Foods currently is operating a meal prep/delivery service and also consulting people that want to work on their bodies the all-natural way without the use of harmful chemicals (medicines) that can be more dangerous than the disease itself.

We understand the narrative about the extreme vegan term that we are often labeled under but we at Practical Foods likes to say, “we do this lifestyle gourmet”! We apply top-notch culinary skills to the dishes we create that have people astounded that they ate a healthy meal without any meat or meat by-products, processed food, chemicals or use of GMO vegetables. Practical Foods is not just our business, it is our ministry and we intend on bringing as many people to true health as possible.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Has it been a smooth road? No… the mind is the most difficult thing to overcome. People… the people you surround yourself with play a large role in the success of your transitioning. When you are on a road to transitioning your body its a journey, you need a HUGE support system. One of the biggest struggles for my family is the holidays. Not wanting to be around the foods that cause sickness in our bodies. Being around family members who are sick, and we know what will help them, but their refusal to change outweighs their need for healing. This is why we know this is our ministry. It takes a lot of praying and fasting to keep your mind focused on the bigger picture which is bringing healing to our community.

Please tell us about Practical Foods – what should we know?
