Today we’d like to introduce you to Terrence Slaughter.
Terrence, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Well, I started making beats the summer after my first year of college in 2016 when I sat myself down to really figure out what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. I bought my first drum machine that summer, started making beats and fell deeply in love with the expression and sounds of my creations! I’ve been on this grind for about four years now and have put out a lot of my work and networked with some very talented producers and artists. And now, I’ve reached a point where my passion is getting recognized more and more! Now I’m proud to say I’m apart of a super dope music management and entertainment group called Hourglass with talented artists and producers, and we’ve just started, so I’m very excited to see where this leads!
Has it been a smooth road?
Definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, from self/family doubts to equipment getting destroyed. All have pushed me to go harder and really show myself that I’m in this for the long haul! This obstacles have taught me that without the L’s, you could never truly believe in yourself to win.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
My brand is mainly Production and mixing. I specialize in producing, but mixing vocals has always been a passion of mine to get better at. And with time and practice, no doubt I’ll surpass my hopes and dreams! But most of all, I’m most proud of my persistence with this journey. A lot of people go into music, but more than half of them don’t stick it through because of the patience it takes or the hate it brings. But for me, it’s about expression and staying true to yourself! That’s what sets me apart, my new sounds and feel I bring when you listen to a motive moves beats.
Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
In the next five years, I see myself with at least five major accreditation in producing and mixing. And in ten years, my own studio to help others pursue and create they dreams into reality!
