Meet Tessa Farley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tessa Farley.

Hi Tessa, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
In October 2021, I left my career in Food Service Management after 23 years of being in the Industry. My husband and I were already running a 6 figure Financial Education/ Credit Recovery Business and I needed to be able to be home with my kids as they faced their teenage years.

I went through many stages of grief as if I lost a part of myself. My career was more than just a job for me, it was my passion.

I went to Culinary School in 2010 to further my passion. I’d been approached several times about catering… I just didn’t feel that was where my soul would be fed. I was wrong.

In August 2022, I catered my cousin’s wedding. It was as if my soul was reigniting. I began taking on catering clients. By the end of 2022, my catering company (Simply Sated By Tessa) had grossed over $50,000 in 4 months.

January 2023, I wanted to focus my efforts on specializing in Weddings. While I cater to many events… weddings are my specialty. We closed out May with $73k gross sales for the first five months of the year. Simply Sated is estimated to clear six figures in its first year of operation.

Catering is both my passion and my pleasure. I have the opportunity to share that gift with not only the world… but I’m able to show my kids what I love about this industry.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My biggest struggle was believing in myself. I had to get out of my own way.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m most proud of my ability to make this company a family business. My kids often work events with me. It has drawn us all closer. They had to learn the difference in Work Mom and Home Mom… but they are really good at serving our guests with a level of excellence this field requires

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t believe in luck. I believe in favor. It’s all about God’s timing. I truly believe this was simply my season to grow.
