Today we’d like to introduce you to Tevin “The Mandal Man” Williams.
Tevin, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started comedy in 2016 after a friend challenged me to do it as a bet. I just graduated from college and found myself in a career that made me miserable. After spending months trying to find me and something I would enjoy doing every day. I attempted standup again on February 18, 2016, at a BBQ restaurant. I went on stage told a story about wanting the be a T-Rex and Waffle house. it was one of the most unsuccessful moments of my life and I knew I was in love because I wanted to do again.
Has it been a smooth road?
No. I work a full-time job (40-50 hours a week) and do stand up typically every night, 2-3 times a night, so sleeping is a luxury. I’ve also had 7 jobs in the last 2 years choosing to stand up as a priority, Stand up is a very demanding career with a slow build up to success, but I couldn’t imagine pursuing anything else.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with The Mandal Man – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I’m best known for my high energy delivery and my unique perspective. I’m proud that I have the ability to entertain people other than my mom. I’ve opened for comedians such as Tig Notaro, Donell Rawrlings and Rory Scovel. I’m a regular at the Laughing Skull Lounge, Star Bar Monday night comedy and Relapse theatre. I host a monthly comedy show at Red Brick Brewery every last Saturday. I’m also the co-host of the world’s worst podcast named Clown School.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Atlanta is the greatest city in the world. So much so, that so many people want to experience paradise, it takes 3 days to get anywhere that involves a highway.
