Today we’d like to introduce you to Theresa Pugh.
Theresa, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Also known as “Nurse Tee” by my peers, I am a wife, mother, grandmother and an extremely ambitious, purpose-driven entrepreneur, influencer and coach who is passionate about helping others to identify their true potential, achieve massive success and build the business and lifestyle of their dreams.
During my successful nursing career, I started to realize that working for someone else for 40 or 50 years may not be the life that I wanted. While working as a registered nurse full time, I learned how to build a very strong residual income utilizing the industries of Private Home Care and Online Learning Platforms. Following the growth of my success in those industries, many healthcare entrepreneurs and professionals began to reach out to me for assistance in building their businesses and brands. I began mentoring aspiring healthcare entrepreneurs and showing individuals how to build their own empires on their own terms and on their own time, regardless of where they were in their lives and professions.
In 2017, I officially walked away from hospital nursing to work for myself full time as a serial entrepreneur. I am the Owner and Administrator of Compassionate Hands Home Care Services, a private home care agency servicing Atlanta, GA and its surrounding areas. I am also the CEO of The Home Care Business Academy, A rapidly growing learning community inside of Facebook with over 2K members and I am the CEO of Nurse Tee™ Coaching & Consulting, a professional consulting firm which specializes in business development, digital marketing, and strategizing solutions for aspiring health care entrepreneurs. I am dedicated to teaching others how to achieve time and financial freedom, while still utilizing their education and expertise in healthcare.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I’ve had many challenges along the way! Soon after relocating to Georgia, I was divorced from my husband at that time and found myself a single mom of four children trying to complete Nursing school. I was working full-time overnight in a nursing home while having to attend clinicals and classes during the day. I was determined to earn my degree in Nursing and subsequently went back to school to complete my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees as well.
I struggled with trying to raise my children alone, on public assistance and with no support from their fathers, yet still, accomplish what I needed to be able to advance in my career. I eventually re-married and with the support of my amazing husband was able to move away from bedside nursing and into healthcare entrepreneurship. I was determined to create a legacy for my children and grandchildren so that they would never have to struggle in life like I did.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Nurse Tee™ Coaching and Consulting – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
As a home care agency owner, I serve primarily the elderly and disabled community through nursing, personal, and companion care provided in the comfort of their own homes. This enables them to have as much independence as possible, keeping them out of the hospital and nursing home. As a healthcare coach and consultant, I mentor and coach aspiring healthcare entrepreneurs, teaching them how to build their own empires on their own terms and on their own time, regardless of where they are in their lives and professions. What sets me apart is that I am dedicated to serving others, whether it’s caring for the elderly and disabled or teaching others how to achieve time and financial freedom, while still utilizing their education and expertise in healthcare. And to date, I have been blessed to assist over 50 health care professionals in their business start-ups around the country.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
In the next few years, I plan to have expanded my home care company into several other areas of Georgia, as well as into my hometown of Philadelphia. I am also hosting my first homecare conference here in Atlanta, and plan to make this a yearly event growing in numbers and eventually being held in other locations. I want Nurse Tee™ to be the first name that comes to mind when people think of starting a healthcare business.
