Meet Regan of All Things Regan in Knoxville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Regan.

Regan, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
In 2013, I was blessed with the opportunity to experience a girl’s trip that made me reevaluate my practices around self-care, self-prioritization, and self-love. I realized that taking better care of myself allowed me to better care for my husband and daughter. Out of this transformative journey, I launched my first women’s weekend I called “Putting Me First.” Since then, it has become an annual weekend for women to give themselves permission to take care of themselves in every aspect including their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. The event had such an impact that I was lead to create the Putting Me First interactive journal and calendar to guide women to work on themselves from the inside out. After the journal was released, I created more women’s empowerment events and products that support the Putting Me First movement.

Has it been a smooth road?
Anytime you have a dream that is larger than yourself, you will always face challenges. In April 2016, I lost my husband to incarceration. When he left, I thought I was going to lose our homes, cars, etc. I was faced with continuing to work my 9-5 and focus on our daughter or continue with building my business. At this time, I was in business for two years, women were depending on me for direction for their lives, meanwhile, I felt like mine was crumbling. I got alone and spoke out loud to God. I simply asked him, “Lord, what am I going to do? I can’t do this by myself.” I felt like at that moment He told me he was going to show me. Days later, I was sitting at my desk writing and all of a sudden, ideas for products and events were coming out of me and felt like they wouldn’t stop. Not only that, but I felt like He gave me businesses that I will be open years down the road. I couldn’t believe it!

I later starting implementing everything I felt like it was time for me to do, and I still have those products and events. God showed me, if I trust Him, he will show me a way out. When I thought I was going to lose everything, I lost nothing. God had to deal with my husband with his personal woes, but he also had to bring me out of the shadows. He had to show me what was in me so I can encourage other women to see what’s in them and to live their best lives.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I believe my business specializes in making sure women live happy and whole lives from the inside out. Once that is established, if they aren’t already walking in their purpose, we identify their gifts and support them moving in that direction. We also encourage sisterhood. We’ve found that oftentimes women are scared to trust one another because of past hurts in other friendships. All Things Regan also encourages a safe space for women to talk, make lasting and whole connections as well as live their best lives.

To be honest, I’m not sure what sets us apart from other businesses. I’m so focused on my business and our customers that I don’t have time to look at what they are doing. I like to stay in my own lane. Let me just add, that when you look at other businesses that are doing the same thing you are doing, it could potentially set you up to compare your businesses and you may feel like you are falling short somewhere. So, long story short, I just keep my eyes on my own paper.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I absolutely feel like this place is good for my business. It is full of women that need and want something to do. If you are starting out, it’s also a great test market. You can meet a different shop and collaborate with other small like minded businesses that will see your vision and help you promote you. It’s a great place to start small and grow! This city is a win-win.
