Today we’d like to introduce you to Thomas Chacko.
Thomas, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I recently started my own family, Allergy practice. I had been in the area for over ten years as an employee of a hospital system. This year, my wife and I decided to start our own practice. I wanted to have the freedom to take care of patients the way I saw fit, and I liked the idea of being my own boss. Also, it allowed me to offer more cutting edge treatment, hire more help, and overall, offer more treatment options for our patients.
It’s been one year into the practice and it’s been a great. My wife is my practice administrator and helps with some of the financial aspects. My job is to take care of patients. I’m very happy we started our own.
Has it been a smooth road?
It’s been hectic in the beginning getting the infrastructure set up. Also, I didn’t realize how many patients we actually see, so getting the phone set up and that infrastructure was challenging. We still some issues hiring help to keep up with our patient demand.
We’d love to hear more about your practice.
I am an allergist. I take care of allergies, food allergies, sinus issues. I’m most proud of the culture we try to maintain, meaning treating patients as ourselves. I offer some cutting edge treatments that not many people in the state offer, such as food desensitization. I’ve been a feature on the cover of Atlanta top doc magazine and have been selected as a perennial Top Doc in Atlanta. I’ve also been featured in many media outlets such as CNN, Fox News, Web MD.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I like the temperature, cost of living and diversity of our city. I specifically love Alpharetta (my hometown… I consider that the “Big A.”)
I don’t like the traffic.
