Today we’d like to introduce you to Thomas Roberts.
Thomas, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am a television Anchor/Correspondent working for CBS46 News in Atlanta. I’ve been here in Georgia for one year. I relocated from New York City, where I was an Anchor/Correspondent for MSNBC/NBC News. I’ve worked in this industry for the past 25 years. My career has spanned jobs in local, cable, syndicated, and network news. I’ve covered news events on-site at terrorist attacks in Europe to red carpet premieres in Hollywood and everything in between. I am 46 years old and married to my Husband, Patrick Abner. We will celebrate 19 years together this fall, and it will be our seventh wedding anniversary in September. We have two dogs, Roxy and Charlie.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road is never smooth. But it does become more manageable. My greatest personal achievements would include my marriage, coming out publicly, and admitting to myself I had a problem with alcohol. In October, I will celebrate eight years of an alcohol-free life.
CBS46 News – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
WGCL/CBS46 is Atlanta’s CBS affiliate. We are owned by the Meredith Corporation.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
This is a hard one. I think success means having the respect of your peers and personal contentment.
