Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiana Allen.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
It all began in Chicago 2003-2004. God spoke. I listened. Needless to say, the higher power knows better than we do. Fifteen years later here in Atlanta we still stand. Not without difficulty though. Growth requires being uncomfortable and there were many times I felt alone and wondering what was next. The Wellness Sanctuary has grown tremendously and has a ton of other tentacles. We have a nonprofit (The Journey Institute of Wellness) a product line (Self-Love:RX – WriteAsPrescribed.com) as well as a Personal/Professional Development Consultations available at (CreativelySuccessful.com) and to add to I have even written two books!!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road was definitely not smooth. The streets can’t get paved with Gold until someone does the actual painting. I learned business by trial and error, (before social media) our business classes in college were not consisting of how to post on Facebook or Instagram nor how to snapchat while at work. Those were nonexistent. Marketing for me was information booths, health fairs & volunteering where ever I can even if it meant giving away my energy & 1,000 free massages without so much as a thank you just as long as I had your email address.
Overall, I give a big nod to my mentor was Dr. Annie C. Wang at Wang Chiropractic and Acupuncture Clinic. Dr. Wang had no Idea how much she taught me. I worked with her as an independent contractor for several years. I’d watch her conduct business and how she treated her patients. I take that genuine love she had for her patients with me into my business. However, I had to learn boundaries on my own. Being an empath (one who is sensitive to energy) and a healer does come with its energy vampires. You are dealing with people who have a great need for your gift. That along with riding the waves of business and separating your personal life is a giant emotional roller coaster.
Many people would say “lack of support” would be their biggest obstacle but I think laying the lines of boundaries as well as understanding how to utilize self-care for myself so I wouldn’t get burnt out or overwhelmed was mine. I learned you can’t run a for profit business based purely off of emotion alone (you’ll never make money if you are always giving away your time and energy freely, however, because you need to relate and fulfill the needs of your audience/customer base you can’t thrive and be successful without it.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with The Wellness Sanctuary, Inc – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
The Wellness Sanctuary is a healing studio that focuses on physical and spiritual healing. We mainly see people post operatively while they are recovering from a surgery (Breast Cancer Mastectomy, Broken limbs, Organ Transplant, Cosmetic Surgery) We are also Lymphedema Therapists who provide maintenance for lymphatic disease Another part of what our facility does is promote healing in women who are survivors of emotional and domestic abuse.
These women tend to gravitate to our healing studio seeking solace for their emotional pain. We offer massage therapy services, creative strategy sessions for life/business, as well as lymphedema management. I am most known for my magnetic personality first and foremost, but really its the healing and transparency in conversation people mostly come for. I recently released two books in 2018. The first is on 11 steps to Authentic Success (CreativelySuccessful.com) The second is an 18-page pocket guide to Self Love (Self-Love:RX WriteAsPrescribed.com) What sets me apart from everyone is that I do not try to be everyone! My knowledge, experience, passion, myself can never be duplicated or copied and I love that I understand this.
What role has luck (good luck or bad luck) played in your life and business?
I do not bank on luck. I pray to God and the universe always supplies!
