Meet Tiffany Blassingame of Simple Organization

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Blassingame.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Hi! I’m Tiffany. I’m a professional organizer in Atlanta, GA. I’ve been in the field of education for almost 20 years as a primary teacher, instructional coach, reading specialist, and academic dean. I was born in Atlanta, but I was raised in a small town in South Carolina and attended rural public schools. I was raised by a single mom. I had a hard working mom, a supportive village of aunts and uncles, and an encouraging brother who was always my #1 fan. I’ve always been an organized person.

From a very young age, I wanted to have things in order; and it caused me to live what I call a “next step” life. In an effort to keep everything together, I tried to do everything right–get good grades, dancer, cheerleader, started working at 15, college, graduate school, got married, and had a baby. My goal was to do everything that I was supposed to do, just the way I planned it.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Even with a well-thought-out plan, real life happens to everyone. Circumstances happened in my life, and I found myself separated with an infant and later divorced by age 30. And I didn’t know what to do. I thought that I had done everything the right way, and here I was stuck, embarrassed and without a Plan B. I am a spiritual being, and I believe in the power of prayer and fasting.

So that’s what I did. I meditated on the story of Anna in the Bible (Luke 2: 36-38) and committed to living the life of Anna–prayer, fasting and serving others. I had to make a decision. I could either be mad, depressed, and resentful; or I could live a life of peace and joy. So I begin to take care of my body physically, to see a therapist, and to declutter and organize my mind, my home, and my goals.

Simple Organization – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My passion lies in organization. I started my business, Simple Organization, as a professional organizer. My mission is to help families and students develop a more organized approach for home, work, and school. I’m particularly passionate about helping people who are consumed by life circumstances. I provide productivity coaching, student organizing coaching, and residential/small business organizing. All services are available both virtual and in-person determined by client needs.

My approach to organizing is focused on creating systems that work for you (and your home). My goal is to help make things better (and that doesn’t mean perfect). My specialties include working with families of elementary, middle, and high school students as well as college students and educators. My primary areas of interest include divorce recovery, work-life balance, and time-management/productivity strategies.

I also have a wealth of knowledge for working with Black women interested in managing their energy and creating an environment where they become the best possible versions of themselves.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
The quality that is most important to my success is my servant approach to coaching, teaching, listening, and caring. I understand the delicate balance between raising children, progressing toward personal goals, working in your career, and being a good steward to others and to yourself.

I understand it because I’ve been there, and I seek to help others make progress through compassion and listening and taking the small steps to reach a larger goal. I provide this approach with clients, and also with participants in the divorce recovery support group that I lead each week.
