Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have been cooking and have loved to cook for years. I was a latchkey kid so when I would get home from school I would cook things I saw my mom cook like pancakes, eggs, French toast, and hamburgers. If I wanted, I was going to figure out how to cook it. By the time I got to college, I was making full-blown Sunday dinners, turkey wings, mac n cheese, collard greens, and cornbread. All my friends would come to my apartment because I was always cooking. For the last few years, I have wanted to start my own business but was afraid but also did not know where to start. I lost my job in November 2020 due to Covid 19 and budget cuts and that was the boost I needed to start Tasty Eatz Catering. I have always been told by friends and family that I needed to utilize my cooking skills. 2020 definitely proved that you can do anything you set your mind to.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Starting a business is never easy, it is VERY scary but exciting and rewarding at the same time. Some months I’m busy others I may not have one event, but business definitely been good to me these last two years.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
They say if you are doing what you love you will never work a day in your life, well I truly believe that now. I am walking in my purpose and doing what I love which is cooking. Cooking excites me. No, I’m not a chef nor have I been to culinary school but I do know my way around the kitchen. It makes my heart smile and makes me feel amazing when I see people enjoying a dish. I love flavorful foods and my food is made with love and from the soul. I provide catering services for all types of events, personal chef services, meal prep, and personal plates. Excellent customer service is my top priority. I always make sure I go the extra mile to make sure that all my clients are satisfied and enjoy their experience with Tasty Eatz Catering.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Before starting my business I definitely was not a risk taker. I had to have a plan and a backup plan. But when I lost my job I saw the opportunity to take my biggest risk and I have not looked back since.
