Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Gilbert.
Tiffany, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
About 6 years ago, my oldest daughter went off to college and I started to wonder what I could do to make a lot of quick cash legally to help with college expenses so that she didn’t have to work or struggle. I needed her to be able to focus and get her degree (which she did). I figured the ATL nightlife would be a great place to start because you always hear the stories about how much money waitresses/bartenders make in clubs. I started working in a lounge in Buckhead as a waitress just for the extra income. I realized that serving wasn’t my thing and noticed that bartenders were making a lot of quick cash as well. I was more interested in bartending so I went to bartending school and completed the program. I have been bartending ever since and I absolutely love it! It’s a fun and rewarding business. I’ve worked in restaurants, hotel bars, and nightclubs all on a part-time basis while working my full-time 9-5. While working at bars, I would always get people to ask me if I could bartend for their private event, wedding, birthdays, and etc. I then had the thought of starting my own mobile bartending service that would staff professional licensed bartenders for any type event. Working in the industry you will realize it’s hard to find reliable, professional bartenders. With Pretty Mixers I would assure professional , reliable bartenders for your private event. The love I have for bartending and creating cocktails, it just made sense.
I started my business in 2015 and we have been booking private events ever since. We have done weddings, birthdays, tailgates, anniversary’s… you name it, we have done it! I got to where I am today with the help of my other bartenders and our clients. Our business has continued to grow more and more each year with the help of social media, networking, referrals, and word of mouth.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It truly has been a pretty smooth road thus far; when you’re doing what you love it never feels like work. However, the only major struggle to date would definitely be Covid-19. It completely shut my business down. Due to the “shut down” and social distancing, it affected our business in a major way. All of our clients had to either cancel events or postone events. We went about four months straight with absolutely no business.
It affected my income as well as the bartenders that normally work for me. However, we know that there is light at the end of the tunnel so we have just remained positive throughout this process. Finally, we have resumed bookings and things are slowly but surely getting back to normal.
Please tell us about Pretty Mixers.
Pretty Mixers is a mobile bartending service that staffs professional bartenders for any type of event. We will provide a bartender/s to suit your particular type of event. We also dress the part for each individual event. We specialize in creating signature cocktails made with fresh ingredients specifically for your event. We also will keep your crowd engaged with great conversation and professional service.
No matter the type of setting we are serving in; our bartenders always maintain the highest level of professionalism to our clients and their guests. We truly do make some of the best cocktails and our presentation is always on point. What sets us apart from other companies is definitely our level of professionalism at all times, our ethics and morals, and lastly, all of our bartenders are licensed and trained.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would definitely advertise more, focus on posting more content on Social Media, and I would have had the website for my business in place from day one of getting started.
