Today we’d like to introduce you to Timothy Keys.
Timothy, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was inspired by close Author friends of mine to tell my own story in the form of a book in the winter of 2017. The book, I Don’t Want To Be That!, has been out since November and doing well.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The writing process was easy as I thought until I presented them in my head, presented the finished manuscript to JL King. JL was a huge help in this writing journey and informed me I needed to keep writing, the word court was too low and the book wouldn’t have been a long enough read. That was when I really had to dig deep. Besides that, reliving certain life events was the most difficult for me.
Tell us about your business/company. What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of as a company? What sets you apart from others?
I am actually a licensed cosmologist, working at Breez Hair Salon in the Salon Lofts located in Midtown, Atlanta. The book I wrote was a first for me and as a self-published author it is a project I hold dear to my heart and am overwhelmed with the support and encouragement from those in my circle. The title of the book is what sets me apart from others, I will continue to live by those words, I Don’t Want To Be That!
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Growing up in Opelousas, LA, things were different. It was a small country town where everyone knew everyone. I recall every Easter my dad would take my brother and I to this huge warehouse that housed tons of chicks. We would each be allowed to choose one from the many sizes and colors and dad would purchase them for us. That I think will always be a favorite childhood memory.
