Today we’d like to introduce you to Tina Body.
Tina, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I worked in corporate America for over 20 years. Along the way, I started working in hair salons on the side as an assistant. I loved doing hair and planned to transition into Cosmetology full time. I’ve always had a love and interest in hair and skin. In a search to provide a better service for my hair clients, I found eyelash extensions. I trained and received my eyelash extension certification from Novalash. I fell in love. I didn’t even want to do hair anymore. I started my business, Beauty For Lashes and began taking clients.
Once again I was looking to provide a better service for my clients and everything kept leading me to esthetics. While researching I found how interested I was in skin care. I decided to go back to school and attain my esthetics license. Once I received my license I changed the name of my business to Lash Wax and Glow to represent a full-service spa where eyelash extensions, waxing, and facial services are performed.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been a smooth road. I have had some bumps and stumbles along the way. It has been a struggle to maintain at times. I’ve had to work in other spas to help gain income, I’ve had to change my business location as well as find free or low-cost ways to advertise or market the business.

Lash Wax and Glow provides eyelash extensions, waxing, and facials. My most popular service is eyelash extensions. I believe it’s because it’s how I started; it’s what I have been known for, and the popularity of the service. What I’m most proud of is, I jumped. I took a leap of faith and haven’t looked back. With all of the challenges I’ve encountered, I continue to press forward and provide the best possible service for my clients. You never know what a person is going through behind closed doors. When someone lays on my spa bed I take on the responsibility of trying my best to relax their mind and body to relieve them, even if only for the hour, of any stressors. What sets me apart is the customer service experience. My clients are able to contact me, their personal esthetician, directly to book reservations, ask questions, or express concerns. I offer a skin care concierge service where anyone can ask questions about their skin. A consultation will be provided and a skin care regime along with appropriate products may be suggested. Also, I am a Certified Oncology Skin Care Therapist. I provide skin care services for patients going through Chemotherapy and Radiation.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up I loved hair and skin care products although I was a tomboy. I couldn’t care less about anything girly. I didn’t wear makeup, I ran track, would rather wear jeans and a sweatshirt than a dress but my hair had to be healthy and styled while my skin had to be maintained as well.
