Today we’d like to introduce you to Tina Klein.
Tina, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I served my country with US Army, a paratrooper and missile officer and ran for the military. When we relocated to Georgia, I shared with my husband that I wanted to help others improve their quality of life through running and/or walking. Now as a veteran, I continue to serve my country through my community. Balanced Running was blessed to be partnered with the Parks and Recreation of Kennesaw. We created an impactful partnership in our community by offering a unique program to help our citizens meet their goals. We wanted to reach adults and youth who wanted to enjoy training with a group in a fun and supportive atmosphere. We’ve continued to help our athletes with motivation and accountability. Since the inception (2012) Balanced Running, we’ve come to see our athletes discover their untapped talents and accomplish their reachable goals. It’s all about balance of life, health, family and foundation.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road has had some bumps along the way. I lost a key sponsor (a local running store chain) to a much larger coaching service provider in the Atlanta area and had to reinvent myself and relaunch the company. I’ve learned through my military experience that failure is not an option. I found a new partner with our local community with the Kennesaw Parks of Recreation and a new training regimen for adults was developed.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Balanced Running story. Tell us more about the business.
Balanced Running is a running development program. Our objective is to enhance the quality of life through running and walking. We design hands-on training programs to build strength, speed and endurance. We believe our bodies are impressive vehicles that perform best when given the right progression of phased workouts and rest. Our Balanced Running fosters a supportive community that celebrates all of our athlete’s achievements.
What are we most proud of? It’s a two-fold process-The accomplishments of our athletes, whether our athletes complete their first mile without stopping or run a 5k faster than ever before or finish their bucket list race, their accomplishments are celebrated by the Balanced Running tribe. And the coaches who give their time by volunteering and actively participating in mentoring, coaching and inspiring our athletes to reach their desired goals. The captured smiles as our athletes as they cross the finish line with their coaches by their running side is priceless.
What sets us apart from others? Passion & Quality. We focus on individual reachable goals and help them achieve those goals with passion, without compromising quality with our training.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
To me, luck is merely being prepared when an opportunity presents itself, as long as you’re prepared to take advantages of opportunities; you’re also prepared to step up when things don’t necessarily go your way.
It’s one of the valuable things I learned in the military: adapt and overcome, always have a contingency plan in place.

Balanced Running has been a great assist in my life. Coach Tina Klein and the others in her crew have helped me improve not only my running abilities, including learning how to listen to my body and recover from various injuries, but also with some basic life skills. Thank you for sharing her story.
