Today we’d like to introduce you to TMil Curtis.
TMil, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
The journey to being an entrepreneur happened because of a chronic pain illness I was diagnosed with that made it hard to hold down a 9 to 5. I have a condition called trigeminal Neuralgia which is extensive nerve damage on the right side of my face that can leave me immobile up to days at a time. So, I figured out my strengths and I’ve always loved to see people win and started my very first company T.A.C.ful Productions which at the time was artist management and live event support entity. That involved me doing marketing and promotions where I begin to see so many gaps in how independent artists were able to function inside of the music industry. I connected with my business partner, Amandla “Dole” Lassiter who also had seen this and we started We Here Now Music Group, LLC as a means of being a one-stop-shop for artists and other indie labels. After relocating to Atlanta, I found myself hitting rock bottom last Fall and had to start all over again. This led me to go back and get my certification in digital marketing to better position myself and what I did for creatives across the board. While in school, several teachers of mine kept saying I was a natural coach and so I stepped out completely on faith and launched the Itsladytmil Agency in May of this year. I’m a marketplace and career coach/consultant for entrepreneurs, ARTrepreneurs (singers, songwriters and musicians) and creatives. So, to double back to the beginning, I’m now a serial entrepreneur with a few entities whose bottom line goal is to see others win.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Whew Chile smooth has never been part of my journey, LOL, but one of the biggest struggles I had to overcome was being comfortable being me. The food, bad, strengths, flaws, all of it! Once I became comfortable in my own skin, it was easy to break outside of the boxes of traditionalism and what society deems as “normal” to create my own lane. Being such a multi-faceted and creative individual, I learned it’s ok to be good at more than one thing at a time. You absolutely can be successful based upon what success looks like for you. I mean I have accomplishments that range from working with Stellar nominated artists to New York bestselling authors to amazing shows that benefit Broadway Cares and everything in between.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Itsladytmil Agency, LLC – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I have a few businesses and life experiences and they ALL yield me moments of sanctification. When We Here Now Music Group was launched, we released three artists all on the same day and landed on Billboard for a few consecutive weeks. With T.A.C.ful Productions I took two unknown artists all the way to the final ballot of the Stellar awards their first year out. With the Itsladytmil Agency, I’ve been honored to work with a Fortune 500 company coaching their staff and on the ground floor of three amazing new ventures helping to build their brands and marketing campaigns. Even before my entrepreneurial days, I had the privilege of traveling with Disney’s The Lion King (Cheetah Company) working sales. That’s actually where my love for marketing and promotions came from! And I’m the Director of The International Music Association (TIMA) where I’m honored to work with inspired artists from over 23 countries! Talk about a complete 180 from holding a dual Masters in Christian Education and Pastoral Counseling, lol, yeppers, I’m an ordained minister also that serves as a Youth Pastor, Worship Pastor and Executive Pastor over the years. And I believe the thing that sets me apart is I’m a cheerleader and don’t mind being number two. My mind has a mind that can come up with strategies and blueprints that hasn’t been done before and they work! So, no matter what capacity I’m working in, I’m the solution.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Not a big change but a big new venture is on the horizon with a new weekly television show called “The Green Room” on the PGNetwork, distributed by XPERIENCE On Demand beginning top of 2020. Another way, I not only get to be me but have a platform for execs and creatives to be seen. Also, expanding the Itsladytmil Agency to train and hire new social media managers to help with my digital marketing clientele. The grind never stops for me and I believe it was hearing the doctors say I only had three years before my nervous system would break down on me. Well, I’m almost ten years past that date, lol!
