Today we’d like to introduce you to Todd Harris.
So, before we jump into specific questions about what you do, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve always had my business but wasn’t to serious with it but I got serious about it in 2014, I had just moved in my apartment with my bro and start seeing art was becoming a big thing in the city and it was stuff I had already been doing since I was in middle school, so I just put my self out the on social media and it’s been history ever since then. And I was working at my job and it wasn’t enough money so I see this as God telling me this is your time, He brought it back into my life because I had quit art altogether and just did music but my talents really helped me so I came to the conclusion to try and make this a real thing bring my dream to life, no excuses. Growing up, I watched my grandma and my mom do very creative things with art and you can say it just grew on me and I’ve always been drawing and sketching all my life growing up with my cousin but what really give me my drive is the fact I’m a first time dad and just had a beautiful little girl and I want to bless her with my talents and when she grows up to see how I started my business from nothing and when she gets older can do the same and also, my girlfriend Schematta bass helped me so much into making it more structured because it was not, lol, but sometimes a woman can show you thing you cannot see. I want this to be a family business one day and show the world.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, the road was not smooth but a good experience and a lesson learned on how to orchestrate business different plans and different situations where you have to make choices I have never had to make before. I’m thankful for all of it because it made me be who I am today. From free work to bad business to almost quitting, lol, but if you want something, you quit on yourself just make something of it and never give up.
Tell us about your company. What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of as a company? What sets you apart from others?.
My company TrapArt is an urban art business that does custom to all ranges of art, but in my TrapArt style, my company is different because of the work ethic and the way my art speaks for itself with the selection of bright colors and tones I use in my work and proud of how my art and business speaks to people without me having to say a word. I live by my name because it’s true and people like that and understand it. My company is to give my customers a piece of me in my work, that’s why I still haven’t got away from doing custom work because everything I have done has been by hand like my paintings. Shoes (af1s timberlands) are my favorites but lately, my custom jeans have been a major thing and the graffiti murals I’ve always been known for doing art seriously as anyone who knows me.
What were you like growing up?
I like how the city is making a way for upcoming artist and letting them display their artwork all over the city, s/o to mayor Kisha for that frfr and idk what I don’t like really. I love my city Atlanta is what it is and that’s what makes us Atlanta, the culture is what I love.
