Meet Tom Palmer of Motorrad Angels

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tom Palmer.

Tom, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
We are motorcycle adventure riders on BMW motorcycles and we were inspired by another organization called Waves4Water and we are combining the passion of adventure riding with helping people along the way. Our theme is “do what you love and help someone along the way” Jon Rose Waves4Water

MOTORRAD ANGELS, adventure riders traveling the world on motorcycles to bring clean water and lifesaving medical and dental assistance to the world’s most vulnerable communities. All Angels will contribute their unique talents to help others as they join us on a journey across six continents.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Many challenges along the way such as dealing with crisis response like the Earthquake in Juchitan Oaxaca Mexico, the flood in Lima Peru, the avalanche in Mocoa, Colombia or Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.

We always feel inadequate or unable to make the impact we want to make but we always manage to help as many as possible along the way.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Motorrad Angels – what should we know?
We are unique as a 501(c)(3) not for profit charity that combines the passion of motorcycle adventure riding with providing clean water to impoverished countries.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
We are nimble and skilled and we can navigate difficult areas and find the forgotten people in a crisis. For example in the flood in Peru, the traffic and roads were snarled with traffic buy our team could navigate around on the side of the road or in flooded road crossings to get the help to schools and hospitals etc.
