Today we’d like to introduce you to Tommy Harris.
Hi Tommy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I relocated back to my home state of Georgia in 2020, When I graduated high school, I left my hometown of Cochran to serve in the military. I met my wife while serving and we grew our family and traveled throughout the U.S. and Germany. After we left the military community, I worked for a couple of different companies but never felt fulfilled with any of my positions. I decided to join the path of entrepreneurship so that I can create my own possibilities and the life that I desire. I started my 360 Video Booth business because I have a background in working various entertainment events throughout the years. I felt the 360 Video Booth was a cool new trend that I could use as the foundation for my business and would allow me an endless list of ways to expand on my services.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The first month or two was a bit of a learning curve. From filing my business correctly to learning the equipment and software, I definitely put in a lot of work. I can say the skills I learned on my own by researching and what I like to call my own on-the-job training has been invaluable. Prior to starting my business, I would never have classified myself as being tech-savvy. I have been team Android for the longest and even had to learn how to operate the iPhone. Another challenge was figuring out the services I would provide and pricing. Right after I launched, there seemed to be an influx on new 360 Booth Owners and it almost felt like a game of price wars. As my skills improved and the quality of my products spoke for itself, I realized that I need to be true to myself, my business and my prices.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
DDTX360 is a family entertainment business. We provide 360 Video Booth services at events of all sizes. Our services provide an engaging activity for event attendees and videos serve as a digital souvenirs. When utilized properly, our videos can also be used as a marketing tool. Some of the events we specialize in are music artist shows and artist release parties. We also specialize in weddings, birthday parties and community events. I think two of the things that my company is known for is our quality and visually appealing setup and custom overlay. Most clients choose a backdrop set up with their booking and we make sure to make our setup stand out above others. Our setups have been used not only for our own services but for music artists’ meet and greet and event attendees to use for selphies. The custom overlay is the digital frame in the video and we customize each overlay for our client, which makes the video truly unique. We also provide custom overlay services for other companies as well.
We strive to provide our clients and their guests with the best experience possible. We are also known for providing an extra touch. Just recently I booked a holiday Christmas party for the military community and I went dressed as the Grinch. I even took the time to take videos and photos with the guests.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Honestly, I have not found a mentor in my industry. There are Facebook groups available where you can network with other business owners. Some people are more willing to share information than others, but that is how that goes. I just continue to work on my skills and know that when the time comes that someone will need information that I am able to offer, I will be willing to share.
