Meet Tony Owens of The Corner Kitchen Deli

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tony Owens.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
We are a new expansion of a Dahlonega cornerstone business, The Fudge Factory. The Fudge Factory is a second-generation family-owned candy company, established in 1982.

The Corner Kitchen opened in April of 2016 continuing the traditions of The Fudge Factory. We use the freshest ingredients available, original time-tested recipes and dedication to customer service to offer the best-tasting, artisan crafted, mouth-watering sandwiches and sides in Dahlonega.

Open Monday – Saturday from 11-3. Our bag lunch includes a sandwich, side, and beverage for just $10.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We did our research before opening so the road has been smoother than expected. We started small with 8 sandwiches and have now expanded to 14 regular menu sandwiches in addition to daily specials to include soups, frittatas, and sweets.

Our biggest obstacle has been getting the word out in a small town – social media has achieved the best results – we feel we are missing those who do not use social media. Our print media has a limited reach.

One target audience we are hoping to reach are those visiting the many wineries in our community. Our bag lunches, catered trays, and baskets are perfect to pick up and take when experiencing the local wine trails.

We will be expanding our line this year to include Georgia Grown jams, jellies, honey, cheese straws etc.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about The Corner Kitchen Deli – what should we know?
For the past 35 years, we have been known for producing some of the finest chocolates in North Georgia. We are now becoming known for producing the best tasting artisan sandwiches and sides as well.

We are most proud of offering a quality product and giving exceptional customer service.

We feel that being part of the community, giving exceptional customer service, using the freshest ingredients possible to maintain a top quality product is key to our success.
