Meet Tony Stylez of Stylez Faces

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tony Stylez.

Tony, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Originally from Detroit, MI, I started my path in theater at a young age where I got my roots in the world of theatrical makeup. But it was only after I moved to Atlanta GA and went to GA State when my passion for makeup really bloomed. I trained under world-renowned makeup artists and brand ambassadors in my early years, getting a true understanding of aesthetics and editorial makeup.

Working with publications like UpScale and Kontrol Magazine early on helped me bridge the gap between everyday beauty makeup and commercial work. I gained experience and built up a celebrity clientele that allowed me to work for advertisement, music videos, film, and television. My current ventures have included creating a branding company that allows for entrepreneurs to work a team and myself to jump-start their careers and mentor the next generation of business owners.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road. Gaining the resources, contacts, and opportunities were just the pillar of the challenges. Being able to trust my self and my talents enough to take a leap of faith and build my brand without a full-time job was the scariest time of my life. Not knowing where my next meal was coming from but still pushing myself to promote instead of job searching was a true test to my faith.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Stylez Faces – what should we know?
Stylez Faces is a beauty and creative directing company that specializes in editorial aesthetic. My branding company, The LEA Project is branding apparel and consulting company that converts budding entrepreneurs into business professionals.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My mentor, Robert Guy showed me the true path to a successful makeup career by providing me with trainings and educational tools to develop my skills, Kizzy Guinn has not only been like a sister to me but has been a beacon for my road into the cosmetics industry. Order Productions has helped me take my resume to the next level by giving me the opportunity to work on nationally syndicated productions when no one else would.

A special thanks to my team at The XTC Project, CJ Taylor, and Aaron “X.o” LaGarde, for being right there to produce whatever fantasy projects I saw in my head and helped bring those visions to life. A big thank you goes to my family, Mom, Grandparents, cousin Rocky, Aunt Terry and everyone else for supporting me when I had nothing but a dream and a makeup brush.

Thank you, DJ Burge, Ariane Byron, Dru Martin, Shamea Morton, Mark Stewert and everyone in my MAC Family. Last but most certainly not least, my partner, my love Anthony for being my shoulder, when I need it and my biggest cheerleader. I love you all from the bottom of my heart.
