Today we’d like to introduce you to Torianna J.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Torianna. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
While attending Pharmacy school, I started experimenting in makeup in my freshman year of high school and I would notice that there were not many products at the time that were gluten-free and or/ vegan based. Also, my friends and family members were becoming more health conscious so I decided to create my product so it could fit everyone. Through rigorous research, I’ve learned a lot of how gluten affects the body. Overall, I wanted to make sure that people who are vegan had a safe product to use.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Discovering a product that is true to me but most importantly, to my customers was very challenging and time-consuming. During the process, I had a small allergic outbreak which led doctors to believe that I had a gluten allergy. I saw how that affected my life with daily decisions on things such as what to consume into my body. It was a very tedious process to eliminate what I was allergic to. It made empathize with people who have lived with this allergy for years.
Please tell us about Cosmetics by Tori J.
In 2019, I started Cosmetic by Tori J. With the constant traveling to sell my product to makeup lovers and with the help of social media marketing, my brand was able to take off within a year. Being a media influencer plays a big part as well. I have had the opportunity to speak with teens on topics from self-esteem to bullying. I created Cosmetics by Tori J. to be a relatable product for all young women and anyone who finds themselves with a passion for beauty and lifestyle, I want to show that it is possible to be successful in this industry. Being able to utilize my experiences to motivate others gives me the motivation that I need to keep growing my business.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
From middle school to the beginning of high school, I was bullied for the way that I looked. I knew that deep down inside that I was smart, kind, and had a big future ahead of me. Through some personal experiences with life, it has helped me recognize the signs of the negativity surrounding young ladies. I speak to other young women they know that they are not alone. I want our young ladies to know that social media does not make them who they are and they don’t have to expose themselves to receive positive attention.
