Meet Traci Sampson of Traci with an Eye Graphic Design in East Atlanta Village

Today we’d like to introduce you to Traci Sampson.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Traci. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve always loved to draw and paint, from childhood through high school so I when I attended the University of Georgia, I decided to stay in the art field. I graduated with a BFA and then a few months later went back to school for graphic design at Kennesaw State University. Afterwards, I worked as an in-house graphic designer for a home furnishings company in West Midtown and worked there for over 10 years. I learned so much – from branding the company to print and billboard design to creating shopping bags – it was an awesome experience! It was then time to branch out on my own and in March of 2010, I started my own business. Seven years later I am proud to say I’m still doing what I love to do – creating designs that help business owners, non-profits, community organizations, and companies tell their story and stand out from the competition!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has not always been smooth but I have learned so much about myself during this time. I went from making a nice salary with perks to hustling to make sure my bills and mortgage were paid. I had to learn to network – get out and meet new people, sell myself, be confident as a new business owner. I had to learn the business side of running a business – a lot of creatives only know about the artistic side and you have to learn what your budget is, taxes that need to be paid, paying for licenses, banking, etc. – it can be overwhelming but once you take the time to learn and understand, it becomes much easier! You always have to find new clients, try new things, go out of your comfort zone to make things happen – entrepreneurship is not for the weak of heart. You must be strong and savvy. It is not easy but I wouldn’t change it for anything!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Traci with an Eye Graphic Design – what should we know?

I am most proud of the relationships I forge with my clients – they come back repeatedly because they can trust me to create what they need and are happy with the results.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Listening to what my clients want is key to creating a great design for them. Meeting with them in person is something I really strive for because I believe that talking to them face-to-face allows me to get to know them as a person, as well as their business, likes and dislikes regarding design, and even if we make a good fit. Many clients have said that I am very personable, understand their needs, and have a genuine love for what I do. I hope that comes across with every client!
