Today we’d like to introduce you to Tracy Campbell.
Tracy, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started acting professionally around the age of 10. I had the privilege of working on a few national commercials and acting in some pretty prestigious plays. I was signed with a notable agency and opportunities to read for some amazing projects were always coming my way. I ended up taking a long break from acting to focus on school and sports. I didn’t get back into the industry until my 2nd year of Bible College. During that time I booked my first major guest spot on Tyler Perry’s Meet The Browns and from that point on the opportunities presented themselves, all thanks to Jesus.
I ended up working on a few different shows like Tyler Perry’s House of Payne, Army Wives, Boulevward West, The Jury, Off Set, etc. where I recurred or guest starred. I recently did a film called Bricked that really tackles the stigma and issue of mental health amongst the black community. It was such a challenge yet an accomplishment to lead in a drama indie film. Addressing the issue of mental health and shedding light on such a taboo topic was a major responsibility but also a great honor. I’m hoping as a result of this film the conversation about mental health becomes more consistent and publicized.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The journey has NOT by any means been smooth but it has been rewarding. Being an actor presents the major concern of having consistent work. One minute you land a part and the next you’re having to work a 9-5 to make ends meet until you land the next job. That’s essentially been and still is my journey. Thankfully God has been so gracious enough toward me to allow for more opportunities to come my way.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I’ve recently started a production company with a few friends called Empyrean Entertainment and we’ve partnered with an even bigger production company called Scissor Films. We’ve created some pretty incredible shows that we will be meeting with networks/platforms about in hopes to get a series order.

I have known this young man’s family for years and of course Tracy since he was a little boy and he has always wanted to act. The best thing about that – he has never wavered! He comes from a line of strength and courage and it shows. Great interview, keep going Tracy! You’re almost there. May God continue to bless you with an abundance, more than you can contain.
